Wear your vest!

I floated the Red river this afternoon to do a little fishing. The river had a little different feel today after it claimed a life yesterday. A man and his fiancé were canoeing and tipped, neither wearing vests. He didn't surface. I wear mine, please wear yours. You never know when it will be required to save you. evyjasyr.jpg Still managed to enjoy a great afternoon and caught a few keeper size brim. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

i have preached it for 18 years while I fish tournaments that Life jackets and kill switches save lives please wear them. My boat motor won't start unless I have my vest on because my kill switch tab is attached to my vest and I put my vest on and then plug up the kill switch slide so motor will start. Heard to many horror stories of folks not wearing them for me not to put mine on. If I have a passenger the must have one on also. I have extras in my boat for them. The old adage IT WON"T OR CAN"T HAPPEN TO ME don't hunt folks. It can happen to anyone................jmho

The most dangerous sport in the world?  Answer ....Fishing. More people die every year from fishing/ boating than anything else. Too cool to wear a vest? Maybe you will look good in a box after they drag your fish eaten body out of the water.

i have spent many a 100's of hours on the water back when I was a Semi Pro tournament angler and could not count all the brain dead people I saw on the water on lakes and rivers. Reason I call them brain dead is because they will either have a boat overloaded with people which is unsafe and no one will have life vests on. Then you see those folks that launch their pleasure boat and they will have their children wearing vests but none of the adults. Folks. We teach our children by our actions in many cases and not what we say. I wish every lake had the signs up Old Hickory and Priest Lake have at boat ramps. It gives the stats of drownings of people wearing vests 0 People not wearing vests 130 and still like I said when folks reach the launch ramp they shift into brain dead mode...............jmho

I make sure I wear my vest because I fish alone most of the time. I just started attaching my kill switch last year, I know I should have done it the whole time.  When I am with someone fishing I always feel safer even though I know the chances are the same especially if we have an accident while running at 60mph.
