Not a fan of Magpul stuff generally, but with the "Magpul Special Edition" Rem870's out there, all the fanboys were hounding us to do a Phagpul build with the SGA stock set and whatnot.  Several hundred dollars and several hours of labor later, its done and ready to collect dust on the demo gun rack.

Factory gun with a street price of about $725

Demo gun we built with a lot deeper parts list

Still a ridiculous amount of money to dump into a pump shotgun, but if you're going to go "whole hog", don't skimp on the bacon ;)

Interesting. Do you want to say how much you got in the build?

Trying not to think about it ;)  At retail it would be about $700 for the gun and parts, including labor and refinishing it'd be about $900

Parts break down:

Rem870 shotgun $375 (I got this one for $175)

S&J magazine follower $12
S&J oversized safety $16

Wolff XP spring $9

Mag extension $40
Mag clamp $10

SideSaddle $35

KA-1212BR $86

Hi-Viz sight $8

Magpul SGA stock set $125

--------------------------------------

Total $716

Labor on a build like this usually runs about $300-350, doing your own install/refinishing would put ya around $700 for the gun which would be a better deal than the factory gun and with all the upgrades.

Yeah, not bad pricewise. Last build we did similar to that billed out just shy of a grand. Considering that the dollar is worth less than its weight in rolling papers and the base gun is almost $400, you're getting a lot of upgrades for the $$$

The SuperMag build on the other hand would run about $1700, won't have many people calling wanting one of those ;)

It shoulders well, but the stock is rather short and has a lot of drop, I'm thinking that catching a thumb knuckle in the face might be a possibility

Casa Grande! We almost moved there but ended up in Vegas instead. Now here in Donelson also. Not to hijack your build thread but you said you are setting up shop here in Donelson area? Nice build by the way. Also not a big fan of some of the looks of the Magpul gear but for the most part its always built well.

That stock has spacers to extend it. Saw one in Reloaders Bench a few weeks ago with 5-6, it was almost too long.

Yeah, it came with four spacers, we only installed one.  The look of the stock with all the spacers in was atrocious.  They really should have had larger spacers available so it didn't look like stacked lumber

When you come to Nashville, I will buy one of your Shotguns

Actually, that shotgun is pretty boring.  Can build stuff that is far more unique than that.  In the next month or so we're be doing a "gym bag" Mossberg SBS build that will make this Magpul 870 look vanilla in comparison ;)

Depends on how "out of tune" it is ;)
