NO HUNTING FOR ME!!!

Well found out a couple of days ago that I will have to have back surgery this Thursday. It stinks but what can you do, not like you can go to the walmart tire and lube center and have them instal a new back and everything is gravy again. It will be another month or more before I can do any hunting and I am going crazy . I have found myself watching hunting shows more than usual. Maybe I will fondle my Mathews FX and pretend I am shooting a deer . Well just have to wait until next year. I should make rifle season though, yeah!

I know what you mean........I missed all of last season and might get to go by muzzle loader this year.......I went to check on my shooting house last week and found a friggin HORNETS NEST the size of a beach ball in side it. Any idea how to kill them out without getting eat up??? I'm thinking bug bomb shut the door and run like hell....

Sorry to hear about that Sir, never a good thing to not be able to go hunting.

But if you keep shakin' your bum like Sponge bob over there I can see how that would mess with some discs.

My mom dealt with roughly the same thing. She had a chunk of disc that has separated and had nerves wrapped around it getting all tangled up. They had to untangle the nerves from that piece (the hardest and most dangerous part of the surgery) and pull the chunk out through a little hole. Then they "hollowed out" two of her vertebrae a little bit to create some room to keep the nerves from pinching. She was on heavy narcotics (they nly gave here a 5 day prescription at a time) and she was a hoot to talk to! It was like she was drunk for about 6 weeks straight. (My mom has never had a sip of alcohol!)

Anyways, all that to say that it's going to suck, but hopefully it will all be worth it for you. Take care bud!

Wasp & hornet killer, big cans. Long sleeve shirts, heavy jacket. Get the good stuff that knocks them down on contact. Don't buy the foam crap, they will fly right through it. I keep a case of wasp & hornet killer in my work trailer.

Well none of my seasons have been too eventful yet....... this makes the second year in a row our early goose season has been a bust, haven't even fired a shot yet. Then I been busy doing other things and have only been able to spend one afternoon in the woods.........

Seriously I hope all goes well with you, holler at me sometime, we can try and score a few "yotes".......

Yeah I was looking forward to bow season, but you cannot control what happens sometime. I will get with you on the coyote hunting that is one of my new favorite things to do this year. I have killed a bunch. Again thanks.

Sorry to hear about the back surgery! I can relate to being down.

I broke my left leg and tore the ACL in my right knee back in early Aug.

Just now getting where I can walk a little without crutches after the first surgery, I'll have the ACL surgery after another month or two of Rehab on the left leg, probably won't be a 100% until around March.

Hang in there and have a Speedy Recovery!!

Yeah it jusr stinks I am going to miss bow season, I got me a Mathews FX not a new bow but it is to me. The Mathews FX I got was shot very little and was in new condition. Oh well I can use it during turkey season though.

Did it come as a shock to you that you had back issues? I got a little suprise when I "strained" mine again putting up some steel in a warehouse about 3 years ago and it finally drove me to see the specialist. He had me do the MRI and then suprise, asked me when I had broken my back! ! Apparently I crushed two of the lower sections in the L3 and L4 back when I was jumping out of perfectly good airplanes back in the day. Needless to say, I just thought I had a couple of weak spots and grunted to hard to often. Surgery was an option but he said if he fused one, then a few years later they would probably fuse another and so on. I just stretch good now and steer clear of steel girders. No issues since.

I hope you had a second opinion because once they start cutting, they love to keep cutting....its like...job security for Docs!

They are not going to fuse, they are going to chip the disk away from the nerve. Once it is chipped away it will well it should relieve the pressure off of the nerves. If everything goes right I should only be down a couple of weeks. Depends on how I heal I might even be able to catch muzzleloader season or part of it. It did come to a shock to me, I fell hard on my back one day and 2 days later I could hardly walk. I even tried physical therapy and it didn't even make it feel better one bit. I had consulted several medical professionals and come to the conclusion that is the best option. If I don't have the surgery and the way the disks are against my nerves, I will always have pain in my back and legs and they will go numb also.

Last year it was an ankle, this year shoulder surgery. If I get to hunt this year it will be with either my 4" 44mag, 4 5/8" 357mag, or 5" 1911 45. I'll have to carry a shooting stick. Don't mind having to shoot a BG with one hand, but, I'd rather have a good stable platform for a critter.

I have seen this video and it gets better everytime I watch it. I would pull my Herniated disk out sharpen it and stab it in the throat.............well maybe scream and cry like a baby. Oh and spraying it in the mouth is a bad idea or his breath smells worse.
