"fat people carry" reccomendations

...regardless of what others may say about it, it's as accurate as any other gun on the market, and as reliable as well.

Sorry, but I snickered a little when I read that. Once it has 150,000 rounds fired through it with no mechanical problems, then I'll concede that you're right.

Sympathize with you bro. I have not only gotten puffier but older and less coordinated too. Had to sell my 1911s and switch to lightweight .38 snubbies. I pocket carry now. Side result is that I find I carry more often now as it is more comfortable and easier to be less self concious about the pistol being with me. The Glock was one of those "too good a deal to turn down" things, I don't carry it yet.

I tried small autos but had some issues with all of them ( I'm not going to go into a bashing mode here) they just didn't work for me. I am still stuck with a jamamatic small auto but it will probably go in trade for a K-Frame Smith before too long.

I will go on record as saying the Lorcin was not mine, I was just playing middle man for a guy I work with.

also the Hi-Point C-9 is not a big giant pistol. It is fairly small and I would guess easily concealed.

I carry at 4 oclock, other times of the day too.

my advice is to stop bending over.

Oh dear lord.

I squeeze the trigger,it goes boom. The bullet escapes the barrel at a high velocity, and puts a hole through the sheet of paper that it was pointed at. the slide goes back and it loads another bullet. it does that EVERY TIME that I pull the trigger, until there are no more bullets left in the mag.

now, I would consider that to be reliable. after a few thousand rounds, If I feel like it, I can send it back to the factory and they will inspect it, replace any parts that don't match factory specs, and they will upgrade the pistol to match the specs of whatever model they are producing at that time. then they will send it back to me free of charge. In the meantime, I can be carrying another Hi point, or anything else that I feel like carrying.

there are several people who have reported sending them the old metal slide pistols expecting only a "freshening up" and who received back form them brand new polymer framed C9s.

If the pistol I send them isn't capable of being upgraded, they will remove the serial numbers from my gun, destroy that one, and send me a brand spanking new replacement, again absolutely free. you don't think that's worth the 50 bucks I paid used for my Hi point?

scientific research has now proven that a bad guy killed by a 50 dollar Hi point is just as dead as one killed by a brand new top of the line ultra tacti-cool Kimber. turns out that a 9mm bullet fired from a Hi point can even kill someone as dead as a 9 mm bullet fired out of one of those pistols:koolaid:

Love my Maks, CZ52s, CZ82s. I'm a bit larger than you. Pockett carry a PA63, in a desantis nemasis. I forget it's there.

Been eying Hi-Points. As soon as My eastern bloc collection is complete, I'm getting a Hi-Point 45. For all of the reasons you list.

Also got my eye on a Kimber Ultracarry. But I can have 5 Hi-Points for what that costs

well, I'll save you a lot of hassle, and let you in on a tip. the majority of "Hi-point junk" comments come from folks who don't realize that yes, for 100 dollars, the guns need a little tweaking. Hi points have a break-in period of about 200-400 rounds. if you have any problems past the break-ion perioid, just take the slide off and LIGHTLY polish the feed ramp until to remove the black coating. make sure it's nice and slick. most Hi-point FTL/FTE gripes are caused by the mag lips. if you have these problems, just lightly push the mag lips in or out dependent until you get it right. finally don't limp wrist it. Hi-points are direct blowback pistols, and as such, they are fairly picky about limp wristing. If there is a problem, send it back to Hi point, and they'll make sure that it works before they send it back to you. win-win situation.

but for the meantime, my Hi-point is not only the gun I am most accurate with, but the one that I am most comfortable with as well. regardless of what others may say about it, it's as accurate as any other gun on the market, and as reliable as well.

Get back to me about the accuracy and reliability after you've put say 5,000 full power rounds through it.

Get a flat pistol or a med/small frame revolver. End of problem.

FEG PA-63 somewhere around $200. Replace the springs as needed lasts a lifetime.

Rock Island Arms 1911 around $350. Replace the springs as needed lasts a long time.

Taurus 85UL. Somewhere around $350. Replace springs as needed lasts a lifetime (with a lifetime warrenty).

All of these are much easier to carry and shoot well.

FWIW, I'm bigger than you and tote a 1911 or XD45. A little S&W M49 works as a BUG and workout gun.

look, others have tried the whole "full power rounds" argument. the Hi point is perfectly capable of taking "full power" rounds, all day long. it has been done many times by many people.

Once a link was posted regarding someone who purposefully attempted to get a C9 to blow apart. according to him:

A guy I knew had it given to him, even though he didn't want it. He offered it to me, and I didn't want it. I said something like "we should blow it up", he took me seriously so we started seeing how we could destroy it. I loaded a mag full of some ultra super hot 9mm reloads. I had so much powder in the case I had to seat the bullet with a hammer to make it fit the mag. I mounted it to the 2x12 in the second picture and pulled the trigger with a long rope. It fired the whole mag without a hitch.

honestly though, it really doesn't matter what I say, some people are going to dispute it, and that is to be expected. I can tell you all day long that I have fired xxxx amount of rounds, but unless you went with me and counted them, you could call BS all day long.

oh, and by the way I do have a Lorcin. until I screwed up the takedown button ( I was PO'd and cleaning my guns to relieve my strees, and put the firing pin in backwards), that gun fired reliably as well, albeit not quite as accurately as the C9. there again, I fully know that many of you will undoubtedly make your comments about saturday night special this, cheap gun that, and that's your right of free speech.

the thing that you must remember is that ANY gun can screw up. I understand that "saturday night specials" have a bad rep, but they aren't all bad. If you ask me, If someone can't afford anything more than a 50 dollar saturday night special, should they just go around without any means of defense?

there are many gun owners who buy into the saturday night special BS, and they think that a ban on them "wouldn't be that bad"

there are also folks out there who say the same thing about NFA weapons, "assault weapons", "sniper rifles" and every other class of weapon.

remember as bolt action rifle owners sit back in silence when they come after your assault rifles, that you sat back in silence when they banned my saturday night specials.

now, any more pissing contests, or can we get back to the topic at hand?

I'm not much into the Hi-Point pistols, but I have been hankering for one of their little carbines in 9mm.

As for holstering a High Point comfortably, I too would recommend wearing an undershirt between the pistol and skin. I don't even like carrying my Colt Agent .38 like that tucked behind my belt. Another think you might give a try is one of those belly holsters rigs. Here's a link to one.

I think there are several differnt models out there.

BTW, I too have your problem. 6'3" 310lbs. And I too need to push myself away from the table and maybe get a little exercise... if I could find the time.:hiding:

What is the rated service life?

Hi point doesn't give a service life rating, but they only recommend general take down cleaning but about every 1500-2000 rounds.

then there's that lifetime unconditional warranty.

any IWB holster is going to give a certain amount of irritation , its a compromise that being said i know of no holster right off the top of my head for the hipoint , if you have a holster you like now keep working with it or try a fanny pack , remember handuns arent supposed to be comfortable only comforting.

Unrecontructed,

We're making fun of High Points because its a taboo thing. I'm sure your cordless drill goes bang every time but thats not entirely the point to us. Its the fact that "its a highpoint." Its one of the ugliest pistols on the planet with some of the cheapest made parts available. Anywhere you go shooters are going to make fun of it. Its not a personal stab... we just like to get giggles off of it.

Just for kicks and giggles a friend of mine and i pitched in for a high point once...brand new... the only goal we had was to blow it up. We did... and it was beautiful.

Oddly enough, me too.

You gentlemen will be happy to know that the "vampire" wingnut Jonathan Sharkey, the guy who was recently arrested here in Tennessee for threatening the POTUS and some Judge up in Indiana, highly approves of your choice of carbines. ;)

Money can't buy a higher endorsement than that.
