just got my letter from DHS

Recommended Posts

I found a letter from Home Land Security in my mail today.  I was like WTF is this,

I opened it to find my 3 month notice to renew my HCP,

Can't believe it has been almost 4 years already.

I will try to get this in the mail tomorrow.

Only thing, I can't find an option on this form to request a Dup at the same time.

I guess the renew date will same the same on the new permit whether they process it early or late right?

Best I remember there are two check boxes somewhere near top, "renewal" and "duplicate"?

That is how it was at the DMV when applied, but this one doesn't have that.

I might check the PDF download to see if it is different.  This one seems much shorter then I remember as well  This is about the same as a 4473.

I found the online in to request on online.  I guess I will renew and then request that way.  I just wanted to do it all at once.

Got mine also. I had a question about address. We are planning on moving in June or July. How much hassle is it to change your address?

What timing?

Just got mine in the mail today also. I almost tossed it as junk mail as I get lots of "official" looking mail, but learned my lesson awhile back when I tossed my new debit card away as more junk mail and a nice refund check to boot. So I at least open all the mail now to be sure

yea, I have been thinking in the back of my mind since i renewed mine this last time. Why is the Department of Homeland Security even involved in a state issued permit? Does that mean when my drivers license comes due again I will get a letter from Department of Homeland Security  for that also. It seems every time I turn around they are in more and more of peoples personal lives or is it just me being paranoid??????................

Well I just wonder why they are involved in state business. If you have a carry permit then of course you own a firearm. Seems to me that would be just like a registration of firearms in a round about way. If that is the case then they know of at least 300,000 + people who own firearms in Tennessee. And you can bet they know if you own 1 you own more...........jmho

A guy at work had a problem with his DL he was asking me about. It was in an envelope from DHS.

My most recent renewal came via the TN Dept of Safety... I'm wondering what DHS has to do with any of this? Unless I now have a carry permit good in any state, Federally granted, DHS can kiss my ass.

See, this is were I have my problem. We have far to many letter named operations for me to keep up with.  Ok, we have DHS

( Department of Homeland Security)  DHS ( Department of Human Services)  DPS (Department of Safety)  DHHS (Department of Health and Human Services) And the list of alphabet is never ending and every day in the news you hear they are starting up another one to oversee the other one that started two years ago because they think it is corrupt..............Believe me I open every piece of mail I get now and even go though those catalogs of junk mail that fills your mail box to make sure the mail man didn't hide one in there........................

The official name of the TN division has been Department of Safety & Homeland Security for a couple of years or more now.

And yes, that means various funding from and  integration with federal DHS.

Donot take this notice and throw it on your dresser and forget about it for several months! Ask me how I know about this?

I mailed my renewal about May 16th and I just got it back today.

Couple interesting things.

My renewal came from Department of Homeland Security.

My replacement came from Department of Safety

My replacement also came with a voter registration letter for some reason and not a word about the renewal, other then the replacement card.

Trust me, I own guns, I vote.
