Just can't have nice things.

I have to rant just a little.  Not super major at least.

Yesterday, the local citizens of Oak Ridge got together for Pizza in the Park, it was first of it's kind event.

It was not put on by the city or anything, just some people got together on Face Book and all went to the park, invited local pizza and ice cream places to come and setup and sell food.

I would estimate 150 or so showed up, people just got together talked and met each other.  All in all it was good.

However here is my rant, as I was leaving, I noticed the foot step on my bumper was peeled up.  I didn't think nothing much other then dam.  I should have looked closer, but I was hot and tired and ready to go.  I thought it might have just gave way naturally.

Today, leaving work at Lunch time, as I walked toward my truck, I noticed a dent in the lower part of the bumper and when I looked closer I put 2 and 2 together and realized they must have happened at the same time.

I pondered on it the rest of the day, well it really isn't that bad and back and forth.  Well, I decided I better get a police report if nothing else just to cover myself.

As the officer looked at it, he suspected there was more then I had thought as he pointed out it appears a bumper might have go under me and pushed it in.  He said looked like compression damage.  The plastic may or may not pop out but he had more concerns then I did.

O well, had it not even 4 months and now it is going to get to visit a body shop..  Yes, I reported to my insurance.  If cheap enough I will just pay but it if gets any bit crazy well I have full coverage for a reason or 2.

Also the other side is even like it should, you can see the gap.  I wish I had noticed it yesterday.  Lesson learned I hope.

BTW, the event was fun.  met some nice people and well little kids seemed to like me as they kept having me tie their balloons.

Sorry to hear that happened, especially at an event that's supposed to be all about community and all. Even if the other people weren't the type of scumbags to hit a parked car and leave, they'd have filed a report if their vehicle had any appreciable damage and wasn't some hunk of junk. So, at least you know what kind of folks you're probably dealing with.

If you are gona fix it your self, a hair dryer will help get the plastic soft and it just might come out.

Sucks that someone did not stand up and say at least "sorry".

No, according to my wife I am not allowed to go there.  My TGO sticker is on the front, on a TN flag.  Picture in show and tell some place.

Your insurance will count it against you just for reporting it even if you don't complete a claim. :(

Not only that but it will show up as an accident on a carfax. I have a high deductible policy and if something like this happens I just pay to get it fixed without turning it in to insurance or using a police report. I sold a car a few months ago that someone had tapped me at a stop light. Their insurance paid to have it fixed. 300.00 paint job, but when I went to sell the car it showed up on a car fax as a rear end wreak. That cost me more than having it fixed myself.

Did you make a post about it on the Facebook group? Won't make a damn but maybe the offender will read about how big of a douche they are.

No, I didn't.  I thought about asking for any witness' on there to maybe make them sweat it.  For all I know, it wasn't even anyone at the event as the park and library where both open to anyone.,'

Bit of good news, insurance called me, they are going to put it down as a hit and run, uninsured motorist.  Instead of a 500 deductible, only 250 at least.  I am not really looking down the road for resell value as I plan to keep it 10 years at least.  Well, you know how plans are but anyways, I don't see me wanting to sell or trade it.  I drive things until they are ready to go to scrape if I can.
