Even the left wing Democrat’s traditional media mouthpieces have discovered that the gun control issue is problematical at best. I found these poll results somewhat uplifting-

ABC News Poll Results

There are at least 32 confirmed dead in the shooting at lace Virginia Tech University, making it the worst campus shooting in American history. Law enforcement officials believe the gunman was firing at least one 9mm semi-automatic pistol.

Do you think this incident is a reason to pass stricter gun control legislation?

No. Violent shootings are isolated incidents and it's irresponsible to link them to gun control. 103,347

Yes. This shows the violence that can occur when someone has access to handguns. 26,886

I'm not sure. I need more information. 2,183

Total Vote: 132,416

CNN Poll Results

Do you believe gun-control laws are an effective way to curb violence?

No 55% 0r 78114 votes

Yes 45% or 63598 votes

Total: 141712 votes

MSNBC Poll Results

Last summer, a Virginia Tech student wrote an editorial in the Roanoke Times saying he'd feel safer if students were allowed to carry guns on campus. What do you think?

Students should be allowed to carry concealed licensed weapons on campus.

79%

The massacre was an isolated incident. Banning guns on campus is still a good idea.

21%

Oh, by the way has anyone heard or seen these media outlets touting their poll results on this issue? Nah, I haven't either nor will I hold my breath in awaiting to hear or see them do so.

That and every firearms related forum I've read anything on since the VT shooting had a couple threads telling all their members to vote on these things. The CNN one probably got the most traffic from the general public and as such is more centralized. I'm not saying its a bad thins they turned out this way just noting that it may not be much of a victory, probably just preaching to the converted.

I certainly see your point but I think that its actually important and telling that these left leaning news(?) organizations do not report on the findings that are resulting from their own polls.

Damn I bet they were surprized with the results.

If the results just happened to be the other way, we would have the media pounding on these numbers every night. Biased, Biased, Biased:down:

Thing is... Those who oppose certain rights, but clamor for others, simply don't 'get it'. They have CHOSEN to not 'get it', thus, they never will.

Sad little people.

Oh don't get me wrong, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. I can see the usefulness of possibly converting some of the unwashed masses, the type of people who strictly follow what they believe to be public opinion. My comment was more that the votes themselves were not indicative of a true change of public interest.

I agree.

I think that everyone was shocked (i.e. lawmakers, gun control advocates..etc.) how swiftly many people responded to the Jim Zumbro debacle and how quickly he was removed from his "lofty perch".

the ones that were crowing over the affair (the brady bunch) didn't really care as they are fanatical in their zeal and have long since lost any objectivity about the matter..but others, I think, saw that the shooters of this country are not only aware of what goes on, but are dynamic, and are a large enough demographic to quell any sort of outright ban/seizure of firearms politically...I'm SURE they didn't want to explore the possibility of using force which would be nigh impossible.

by the way..because of the response..I've been buying favoring Remington products ever since..unless its a specific item that I need.

:D
