A good lunch

The wife and I took several children from church to Kingsport for the state bible drill today. Afterwards we stopped at the Cracker Barrel for lunch. While waiting we noticed an older gentleman sitting by himself. I noticed his WW2 cap. so I went over and asked him where he served and he gave me a short synopsis. He is 98 yrs. old and was in the infantry in Europe. I thanked him for his time and service. I stopped his waiter and paid his bill with a tip. The children asked why I would do such a thing. What a moment to show children that the stuff they read about in history class was lived by this man. When you meet a person from that generation it brings it to reality that it wasn't that long ago.
