I walked into Walgreens looking for duck jerky, which is like crack for dogs.
The 1 lb bags were out and only the 2 for 7 buck bags were left. After digging through all of the bags and dog beds and as seen on tv section I stopped and muttered to myself : vontar

No duck jerky on redneck layaway at Walgreens. Now when a shelf is empty I think of vontar and redneck layaway logistics.lol ya got me on that one!

My dog won't eat it. She sniffs and walks away immediately. Like I've offended her by offering it.

My dog Kasey gets Jacks Link Beef jerky or Jacks Link Turkey Jerky. Buy bulk bags for her at Sam's. She does not get any dog treats because they are almost all made in China. .....   Do they even make Duck Jerky?.......... :hiding:

I had a long talk with my vet back about 10 years ago when it was first discovered that China was poisoning dogs over here by putting dangerous chemicals in the dog foods and dog treats and I quit using anything made in China period. Since after spending about 3 hours at Petco reading labels I drew the conclusion that human treats like Jacks Links had to be safer for Kasey. I contacted Jacks links by phone and we had a long talk about where they got the materials they used to make their products. the answer was Canada and the United States. As far as her snack biscuits she only gets Alpo Squares made in America. Her dog food when she is fed dog food is Pedigree which is made right here in Franklin Tennessee. That was the dog food my Vet recommended. Most of the time I cook for her and myself. I buy Chicken breasts in 10 lb bags and will cook them in a large Crock pot and most nights she will get two chicken breasts and 2 nights a week she gets dog food. I figure I can eat the chicken also and I can eat the jacks link Snacks also so works out fine. Sam's has 1 pound bulk bags of the Jerky and ever so often they run $3.00 off it per bag. When they do that I stock up on it. I'm just waiting now to see how long it s before China starts poisoning Americans with their food products. They caught them back about 5 years ago with those little travel tubes of tooth paste when people were getting sick and after testing the product they found out that China was putting Ethanol Glycol which is the base product in auto anti freeze in the small tubes of the toothpaste. My guess was that was just a test by the Chinese to see if they could get it passed without getting caught and if they would have they would have began using it in more products made for human consumption in he United States. Since then I have become a serious label reader. China has tried to get the Food and Drug administrations permission to remove the MADE IN CHINA from the labeling of food items for humans here and to date they have denied the request. I am guessing that China may have already began doing it to see if they can slip some things through. That is why I seldom by many store brand products and never buy the off brand products that don't have labeling where it tells where they are made. A few of my friends have called me paranoid. I say better paranoid then hospitalized for being stupid...............jmho

All jokes aside about this Chinese stuff. I was feeding my Kasey those Waggin Tails Chicken Jerky and she loved it and I was buying it in bulk at Sam's. I went to Sam's one day to stock up on some things including her jerky. Not giving it any thought I put 8 2lb bags in my cart and when I got home I was getting stuff put up and what the hell did I see but the words MADE IN CHINA. I got out a bag I had purchased the trip prior and it said Made in USA. I called the 800 number to talk with them. I ask the lady on the phone when they began getting their products made in China and she said that they just started and the new products just hit the shelves in stores this week. I ask her why they moved off shore and she gave me the most lame excuse I have ever heard. She said they were having trouble locating enough chicken in America to continue making their product because of demand. She said we have our own quality control people in  the plants over there so you can be assured that the quality of our product won't change. I said maybe not but I won't be buying any more to find out. I made a special trip back to Sam's to take the junk back and get a refund. I go my refund and told the manager at Sam's how disappointed  I was in Sam's decision to continue to carry the product. I went over to the Jacks link Jerky and read the package and saw nothing about China and bought five 1lb bags and went home. Since then I have been doing the research about the Waggin Tails reports and dogs are getting sick and dying on the damn things. It is causing many different illnesses and killing dogs and right now I think  they are tied up in over 100 lawsuits over people suing them from everything from very high Vet bills to loss of a family pet. Maybe Waggin tails should have called Tyson  and ask about buying some chicken and staying on shore in America. That is why I recommend that every one become a label reader and if it does no specifically read Made in USA or Made in America don't buy it because it is probably made in China and the company is hiding it. Also don't get tricked in the labeling either because there are a few out there that say Packaged in America. Ok so it's packaged in America but where is it made??????. I did hear an ad on TV the other night about Milo dog treats and back several years ago it was made in China but the other night on the ad on TV they said it was made in America. I don't know whether to believe them or not but maybe their sales was suffering so bad by being made in China that they came back on Shore and are making it here. I am going to get teh number off one of their products and call them and do a 3rd degree on who ever answers the phone and tell them before hanging up that if my dog gets sick on their products they can expect to be sued and wait for a response. If they tell me they would rather I didn't purchase their products that will tell me what I need to know.................jmho.
