Crappie Fishing in East TN

I know it's a touchy subject asking a fisherman for a decent spot to fish - BUT, does anybody in the Chattanooga/Cleveland area know of a decent area to try and fish for some eatable Crappie?

Even if you know someone, it's hard.

I have a friend who has promised me for years.  3-4 times a week he pulls in with limits of big crappie off of attractors he has set out..

He will take his spots to the grave.

No idea in your area.

I have found  a few places to fish in OR but not many.  I guess not having a boat hurts.

I had a buddy bring me 5 quart bags of filets yesterday and give them to me because he didn't have room in his freezer for them. Love friends like that...... If you were up this way I could put you on a few spots on Old Hickory Lake but don't know anything about your area for Crappie.

I will definitely keep in touch as I spend a few weekends a month up that way!

Parksville Lake at Greasy Creek is some respectable Crappie fishing. Grasshopper Lake, also. I recommend a light jig head with a red top and chartreuse body. Find the appropriate depth and fish it under a floater on an ultra light rig. When retrieving, "pop" the float a couple of times, reel up the slack and repeat. This gets the jig "swinging" under the float and the crappie (and just about everything else) love it. Especially around stump beds, fallen trees, and other structure. Good luck!

I can't tell you any spots but several friends that are dedicated fishermen have been wearing crappie out on both sides of Chickamauga Lake.  You need to get out there.

I've done pretty good in the Wolftever Creek area. They move daily though. You just have to get out and find them every trip. I'll catch them in one location one day, go back and not catch anything there. They have been shallow though from 3 to 12 feet. I troll with a hair jig under a float usually set from 3 to 5 feet deep.

I have pulled some darn fine large mouth out of Wolftever.

It's a good area, but there are many places that are good on Chickamauga right now. Lots of pressure though. It seems there's a big tournament just about every weekend now. The boat ramps are loaded it seems even through the week.

Been enjoying the fishing so far!  I really missed being out on the riverbanks so often!

I'm looking to plan a trip sometime this summer within a few hours drive of East TN to do a little bit of camping and fishing.  Any suggestions?
