Microtech ADO

Recommended Posts

Local shop is a Microtech dealer.  Nice knives.  They have a trio of ADO fixed blades that look like a mini version of the old Cris Reeves once piece.  VERY nice.  Then I saw the sticker and developed a transient idiopathic arrhythmia!  Yikes.  I love this thing but are they really worth the money?

It sure is sweet though.  Sharp enough to cut adamantium!  LOL.

I've never gotten that excited about that particular line.  They're nice enough, but for that price I'd love to see them in something other than 440a and 154CM.

I would find the Chris Reeve you want before getting the ADO. The thing about the CR knife is that it will hold its value considering they are no longer made and are still in demand. I have about 10 or so CR one-piece knives, and they are incredibly nice.

The Cris Reeve is too big and the ADO really ain't a good every day carry. It does have the cool factor though.

I was looking for a GOOD every day carry knife at my local shop when I happened upon the ADO. I tell ya, I'm looking hard at the Randall RAT-3 with non serrated D-2 blade. Much more utilitarian and suited to all day long carrying.
I don't know squat about the Randall either but it looks very well made.

Randall knives are top quality, if it is genuine I have seen fakes out there but if it is the real McCoy Randall knives are some of the best fixed blade knives on Earth. I have a Smithsonian Bowie knife being built that I will hopefully get by the end of this year

Sorry we are talking about different Randall's!

But the Rat3 is a good knife as well Edited by willis68

Just knowing about Marfione and Microtech CS ensures that I will never own one again.

Agreed Fred,

Tony is a dirtbag and their CS sucks ass, having said that they do make the best OTF production knives so as long as I go through Hollow grind I will buy OTF knives from them, Pro Tech is my favorite knife company and very soon I hope they will put Microtech off the map

Yeah, big difference there. Years ago it knew a guy who had one of the hollow handle survival knives Randall made. Shoulda talked him out of it.

That's a sweet knife.

I like it. The surface finish of the sharpened edge looks a little rough. Like the grinder was too coarse a grit. I'm gonna let the little man that sits in the back at the next gunshow work it over. He does very good work and the sharpened edge looks like a mirror when he's done.

I've been carrying it all day. It's comfortable. I barely know it's there carried vertical.
