Took the Defensive Handgun I class at CCA tonight.

Opened my eyes about a few things, I really enjoyed learning that I don't need my sights on my handgun to effectively hit the threat. I also liked hearing as we left, "Those of you with valid permits, make sure you're HOT before you leave."

What are other ways to shoot accurately without sights at short range? I heard someone say focus on the tip of your shooting finger 2 inches below your target. Not sure about this quick shooting system though.

Both eyes open focused on the target. You may not be able to see your hand or your front sight. You will react how you train. If you need to see a sight and can’t you are hosed (and possibly dead)

It takes time and practice. Target shooting is a sport. Defensive shooting is a survival skill. Different mindsets.

It’s not rocket science and there are probably some forum members in your area that could give you some pointers to get you started. Or you could take a training course.
