Scope mounts

I got some weaver scope mounts, 30mm mid rise, but it seems that its too big for the scope I got. The scope is loose on the mount, is there a way to fix it or do I have to get a new scope rings. I got a cheap scope, its a truglow 3x9x40. Nothing fancy, just wanted to start getting used to a scope before I order the nikon p223.

Sounds like the scope body is 1 inch. So yes you do need a different set of rings.

So for a smaller scope, I need bigger rings?

You can go on ebay and buy 1 inch inserts for 30mm scope rings. They are normally less than $10. I try to buy 30mm rings with the inserts because they will work with most scopes out there.

I may just take them to the shop or put them for trade. They look really nice tho.
