Long Shot

So I decided to make a call or two from the porch 2 days ago. We have some new calves and the yotes have been getting brave. This one stepped out of the creek line. Range finder said 342 to the house. Missed first shot, follow up shot stopped her where she stood. It was far enough away that i heard the impact post report.

One less coyote to mess with the calves. We've lost 2 calves so far this year to them, and with cattle prices like they are, that can make a big difference!

Good job. I watched a show the other day about a yote. If you buy anything from acme, them buggers will mess themselves up.

What caliber and load did you use? Great shot by the way.

This one was in a .223 AR. 50grain vmax with 25 gr of H335 I believe.

Bipod down and laying prone on the back porch.

Nice shot, and nice looking fur.  The ones I've seen lately have all looked mangy and ratty.

One side she was fairly clean, but the other looked like she had some mange. Most of the ones I've taken lately have been pretty clean. They seem to absolutely thrive in my area. Just about every night a pack or two sound off. Sometimes it sounds like as many as 10-15 dogs!

Good shot! You're lucky...in one way... that you can shoot yotes from your back porch. On the other hand, sorry about the loss of your calves. I'll bet ole Shawn would be glad to help you thin out the yotes. Heck, any of us would. Hope you get them before they get any more of your calves.

Nice shot! No doubt we would show, just ask and all daylight hours might be covered :)
