Hello from Athens, TN

Hello to everyone from a newbie in Athens, TN.  I'm just getting into the whole world of shooting, and I stumbled across this site through a Google search about pocket holsters.  Eventually I plan to get my carry permit, but I feel like I've got a lot to learn before then.  Hopefully this site (and your wisdom) can help me along that journey.  Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself.  I look forward to getting to know you all in the days to come.

Welcome. Im a newbie my self.  Ive been to athens once for a class at the old jci (now mig or maybe jci lol Im an engineer at one of their plants in lexington tn) plant last summer.  Its a very nice plant, and there is some very nice land out there.

How timely just what I've been looking for "insiders" from Athens.... Our story ( briefly)... our home is for sale in Ca. When sold we are looking to move to Athens or Crossville...each has a gun club for clay target shooters, rifle and handgun shooters which is on our required list. Would like to know what you Athenians think of the town and activities at the Chilhowee gun club. Finally any comparatives between Crossville and Athens that are interesting?

Athens is a small community, but situated halfway between Knoxville and Chattanooga. There are some very nice subdivisions around and you can go from living "downtown", to living secluded. I am not a member of chilhowee rod and gun club, but they do have a nice pistol range, rifle range, skeet range and lake for fishing. They even have archery.

I do work in Crossville, and they do not seem to be as friendly as Athenians. But I could be biased. :D

Welcome, from a short distance north, way out in the woods.  No town or neighbors in sight. I do get into Athens once in a great while.
