Would you carry to a job interview?

'Cause I've got one tomorrow, and I'm not about to violate my personal rule of packing every time I leave the house. But I guess the little Nervous Nellie inside of me is just sure that something unlikely will happen during the interview, and suddenly an XD will appear on the office floor, and I'll be stuck in self-employed hell forever.

I think this is more of a cathartic post than anything for me. I already know from experience that it's really easy to conceal beneath a jacket. I figure I'll use my IWB holster, outside the shirt but under the jacket. I'd be hard-pressed to show with that.

I would, I have in the past, I carry IWB that I can tuck so no issue with me.

Good luck on the interview!

Yeah, my IWB holster is tuckable, though I've never carried like that. I don't think I'll do it tomorrow, since I'll be wearing a jacket and all.

i had the same feelings when i started to carry at church but i soon got used to, i would say you will be fine as long as it is not posted not to carry where you are going. good luck!

Hell, I'd probably hire someone on the spot if I knew they were carrying.

Two words "pocket pistol".

Truth be told, I'm coming to the conclusion that IWB is more discreet than pocket carry. When I carry my P3AT, it's readily obvious that there's something in my pocket, vaguely gun-shaped. I'm 100% certain that an XD under a blazer is less obvious than an odd bulge in my pocket.

That said, I'm quite certain that hardly anyone is going to see the bulge in my pocket and think "gun!", but I'd still like to just ditch the bulge altogether...

I actually carried to the interviews of the last 3 jobs I've had. That is going all the way back to 1995. Obviously I was not applying for anywhere that had metal detectors.....:death:

Why wouldn't you carry to a job interview? You never know when you are going to need your weapon. You might have to save the interviewers live from some angry employee.:death: Say the guy you are replacing. Now you have the job.

I would absolutely carry to a job interview.

One time I applied for a tech job at a laid back ISP and I always wear a suit to a job interview. Everyone there was wearing jeans and tee shirts. Anyway I heard that they though I was the FBI. One of my friends worked there and he fanned the FBI fire for as long as he could.

I've had an experience like that. When I lived in Raleigh, once upon a time I interviewed with a consulting firm out in RTP that did a lot of scale mocking-up of fluid mechanic-related stuff. I showed up for the interview in the full gig- shirt, tie, jacket- and was interviewed by the guy in charge of that location, who was wearing an ancient T-shirt and torn shorts. Turns out that everyone at that place was hands-on building and working with those models, so business attire was definitely not the dress code.

It felt really weird being dressed like that and interviewing with a guy looking like he'd been out mowing the lawn.

...quick question...have you checked the companys view on employee carry? cause, if the dont allow, then I wouldnt carry...all depends on how much you want the job.

I dunno, someone spills a cup of coffee all over you, or the interviewer says something like "our AC is out today, take you jacket off and make yourself comfortable"

i am just saying a lot of times Murphys law takes effect.
