Music City Tactical Shooters--IDPA Match May Third

Recommended Posts

Posted

We will be hosting an IDPA match on May Third at our range in Dickson. Stages are being finalized and round count will be around 90. Check out the Website for all the particulars. We again will have a first time Match Director with some really great stage designs.

I will run a IDPA classifier after the regular match for all who need it. With the local majors coming up you need to be classed to shoot them.

As always;

New shooters meeting at 8:30 am

Shooters meeting at 8:45 am

Shots at 9:00 am

Did the stages get posted somewhere? I can't seem to locate them on the website

I'm super excited, this will be my first event and after hearing the rave reviews from last month I can't wait!  I just hope I shoot worth a crap.  I do have a couple questions maybe some of you could help me with:

1) I want to shoot SSP - must I uninstall my aftermarket trigger connector bar?  This is in a ruger so it's not like moving a glock 35 part to a glock 26... i'm not sure if this qualifies under the allowances for internal trigger work or not, I assume so

2) Division capacity is 10 but start conditions (for most COFs where you start loaded) is 1+capacity right?  Or do I start with 1 chambered and only 9 in the mag?

3) Follow up to #2:  What is the preferred method to load and make ready?  I can think of three ways I might want to do it:     A) I'm using 17 round mags so I could simply load one to 11  [Is this permissible or will it render a DQ since i've loaded a magazine above and beyond division capacity?]   B) Strip a round from a magazine, remove mag, top off, reinsert   C) Have a secondary mag with only a single bullet, load, change to a magazine loaded to division capacity and pocket the now empty feeder mag [Is this permissible or do I DQ for having more than 1 + 2 additional reloading devices on me?]

4) Tactical priority on targets exposed by slicing the pie:  If two targets can be revealed as I slice the pie, do I have to put on one each before doubling or do I get to double on the revealed target before pieing out further to see the second?

Thanks!

1) trigger connector bar is fine. Don't change it.

2) 11 rounds in first mag, 10 in the other two

3) see #2

4) slicing the pie should only be able to see one target at a time. I'll be doing the new shooters briefing. We will clear up any questions you have so you feel comfortable before we start.

Glad your coming out, see you there.

New to the nashville area and the forum here, but thinking of getting out to one of these soon - might just head out to this one.

How many people usually show up and how long does it usually run? I was shooting in chattanooga IDPA a few times but the numbers started to push 80+ and the event took 4-5 hours, usually was just too much standing + waiting time for me. I did notice it looks like you guys run it twice a month, so maybe that spreads out the people a little bit.

Either way, if I don't get out to this one - I'll get to the next one. Just don't wanna dissapear for over half a day and have to face my better half this soon after our move. Need to find somewhere out here to shoot anyways.,

Miller_man,
Turnout is usually between 40-60. We will split up into up to five squads so it should flow smoothly. We are usually done around noon or so.

Great match today. The double swinger was awesome. Catseye put it on us again. Patrick was a huge help; Thanks for showing up early.
