M1 Carbine & JQD 88-B

Here is a photo of the new to me 1943 Inland M1 Carbine .30 caliber. It was purchased from CMP. The sling and ammo pouch are farbish not vintage. I picked up three vintage 15 rounds magazines. two of which are in real good shape, the third looks like it was fished out of the English Channel.

The backpack is actually a rucksack. It is also a 1943 model B-88 manufactered by Meese Inc. This rucksack was developed for use by mountain troops. It is vintage and I bought it 25 years ago at a flea market.

Welcome to the M1 Carbine club:cool: To this day its my favorite rifle to shoot. What "grade" did you purchase?

Posted

service grade. The stock has enough dings and dents for me to never have to worrry about adding another to it. The rest of it is in absolute great shape.

Reciever and barrel are both Inland, I do not know enough about markings to know where the rest of it came from. There are not a lot of visible markings on it. Stock has the P cartouche on the grip and there is an AAK on the left side.

I know I can never find out but I wonder about its WW2 service history.

Very nice carbine, you will have fun with it

I gave your photo an excellent mark. An M-1 Carbine was my very first rifle to shoot. I need to get one. I actually shot very well with an M-1, still have the target sheet.

Years ago in my Navy service we had some Carbines for ship defense.

Some were full auto. All were fun to shoot.

Especially with 'free' ammo!

Most excellent carbine and photo. Envy rating: About 9 on a 1-10 scale. (Only way to get a 10 would be if you had two of 'em!)

Thanks for all the nice comments on the M1. I almost feel like I have no need to ever buy another gun ever again. It completes me :bowrofl:

HA, Now if I can save up to get a Garand next summer. :bowrofl:
