N82 TACTICAL HOLSTERS?

Recommended Posts

Thanks Whitewolf for the info.  I like what I've seen on youtube about them and what I've read on their website. I'll have to handle one before I decide of course.  It seems like each model will work with quite a few pistols. That would be very nice to be able to swap guns and use the same holster all the time.

Pro:

Very good fit and finish.

Very comfortable.

Outstanding customer service

Con:

The big comfortable backing pad is also very hot.

On the Pro model there is a twist lock retention built in (ala Level III retention). What that means is to draw the weapon, the user must grip the weapon, twist the butt inwards towards the body to unlock it, then draw and present. Now for those in law enforcement that are used to a level III holster it presents a problem. On the Pro holster, to obtain said grip, you must forcefully jam your thumb between the pistol grip and the big comfortable backing pad, while on a "normal" level III holster you just slam your hand down and establish grip, twist to unlock and present in basically one fluid motion. No matter how hard I tried, I could not get past the fact that not only is it very hard to get an initial grip, but the draw was way slower because of it.

Now mind you, that is coming from a LEO mindset, and if I cant get that weapon out in a heartbeat, it just wont work for ME. Will it work for you? I cant make that decision.

I've use the original for my 75B and SDP for over 4 years, virtually every day. No noticeable wear, so I can attest to the durability.

I always wear a tshirt, so no issues with it being "hot"

Regarding retention, I carry AIWB  and a fter a 20 hour hard work day of installing flooring, the sweat shield was soaking wet, no moisture transfered to my handgun and my handgun never slipped out of the holster.

Can't comment on the pro series; reviews I've read is a very secure fit until the rig is broken in.

The downside to the original series is the throat of the holster collapses, so a very careful and deliberate re-holster is required.

I'd buy another N82 before venturing back into the "unknown" and potentially adding to my box o' holsters.

You are correct - almost a one-size-fits-all based on frame size, though I use the 75B size for my SDP and it works perfectly for both.

Got this holster about a month or two ago. Finally got around to giving it a go. The retention is great - nice and tight. The draw does take some practice. Luckily, I have skinny fingers and have no issue getting my thumb in between the firearm and backing pad to release. I can see those with large or fat thumbs having issues. Otherwise - most comfortable holster I have to date - atleast 3 hours in! :) ... sent from my pocket rocket ... my Samsung Note 3!

Met the owners at a trade show.  Good guys.  Got one for my Glock 19, and it works pretty well.  I don't carry my 19 all the time anymore, but great thing is their simple and work well IWB, and as a clip in holster for the inside of a car door.

The Original is the first holster I bought for my Five Seven. I absolutely LOVE it. I wear it daily, 7-8 hours a day, for the last 4 months. No wear that I can see, no problem with it being hot (for me, anyway), and I've forgotten I was wearing it more times than I can count. Great guys, great product!!
