Who says you need a sports car or a motorcycle to run the Dragon?

i have run the dragon in several different vehicles, two and four wheels over the years.  it is harder to do it in a cage and stay in your lane.

That's why the wife says no to taking my truck over there, it's small low and extremely powerful and handles like a Porsche. She'd rather I'd stick around a bit longer for some reason.

But I get what you are saying and I agree.

 

I have been running the Dragon for nearly two decades. I have driven stock family cars, trucks, sports cars and purpose built performance care. 

 

It makes my blood boil when I see anyone, cager, biker, trucker, cop, cyclist, etc.. who can't stay in their own lane. I can run it and never touch mayonnaise or mustard.

I don't know if you are being facetious or not, but it means turn your headlights on in the rain. State law in many places. Tennessee included if I remember correctly.

the dragon, skyway and hellbender are some of the best roads in the area.  lots of other great no name roads around too.  it is a great place to lose yourself on a weekend while on two wheels.  next long ride will be the moonshiner 28.  it looks to be around 109 miles one way ride.

I got to run the Dragon in a Honda s2000 and a Porsche 911 turbo.  The Honda S2000 was more fun for those twisty turns with the open top to enjoy the mountain air.  The Porsche power was wasted on those tight corners (and the traffic didn't help).

is 1029 hp. It has more torque than any american produced car. Cant include super cars tho.

Might be time to head out there again. I have been out there several times with the National SV Rally and at other times. I usually ride and the wife drives so have been through it in a number of vehicles. To be honest, I much prefer the Cherohala.

Yes.  If you see a motorcycle riding slowly and frantically waving at you... be prepared to vacate the road quickly.  There's several spots where an entire tractor and 53' trailer can hide and then magically appear right in front of you. 

 

Personally, I think the 53' trailers should be restricted.  Since they cannot pass that stretch of road in a legal manner, they shouldn't be allowed or an escort should be required.  I seem to recall that it's physically not possibly to pass through legally with a trailer longer than about 30ft.

sure it sucks, but it made me grow up real quick and appreciate things I never did before.  The guy on that second bike didn't make it through though, he was only wearing a brain bucket when he hit the ditch and passed the next day in critical care next to my room.

 

Also shows you that proper gear WILL save your life, 60+ feet down a cliff and I'm still breathing... other dude hit a small ditch at 15-20mph and lost his life.
