Its run by a vandy professor. No form 990 is on file at guidestar. Its basically a website.

Interesting....

Funny how so many anti-constitutionalists (and socialists) are college professors.

This site shows the spaghetti factory as gun free, but the iphone app "posted" says its a pro gun business.

This is one of the reasons why bothering to check the internet is a bad idea as it contains conflicting reports. Also if a person knowingly carries into a location that is posted off limits and is subsequently busted for it, if it becomes known that you knew the location was off limits your charges can be escalated.

If the door is posted then I avoid going inside, if the door is not posted I'm under no obligation to search the internet or make phone calls to make any determinations....

I checked where I live and of all the places it lists only one establishment had anything reported. Funny thing is the one place they reported on allows guns. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Tapatalk

For some odd reason, @GunFreeDining just retweeted my tweet to them, as if they don't understand I was dissing them. Or, maybe they're wearing it as a badge of honor? Funny they haven't retweeted any other negative responses.

I said "@GunFreeDining thanks for providing a convenient online database of restaurants I should avoid!" And linked to their site. I'm guessing whoever retweeted didn't get all the way to the end of the sentence and thought it was a positive comment. They only seem to retweet the positives. Pretty funny.

LOL, they liked my post twice.....

Here is the text of it.  They haven't removed it.  Not much traffic so you can all see it on their facebook page

Nice page. Easily lists all the restaurant's I won't have to waste hard earned money on. I'll just stay safe and eat elsewhere. Thanks Gun Free Dining.

Are you going post on this at some point..."you all do understand that I mean I won't visit place that don't allow carry, right?"

I typed in Maryville/Alcoa and almost every one listed showed not yet contacted.. There were a couple places listed that aren't even in business anymore.

I'd say the website has been a flop and not maintained and kept up to date. I wouldn't give much credit to its listings.

Looked up their corporate info and their "headquarters" address so happens to be the same address as "Sunset Grill"......hmmm

College Professors are opportunists. The are socialists when the Democrats are in and Conservative when to Republicans are in.  Most of them burn the candle of which ever is the controlling factor and the time. It's called job Security............jmho

I find the whole argument ludicrous.

Nature abhors a vacuum. ANY life that refuses to defend itself is culled at some point in time.  The Natural right to self defense has pre-dated governments and indeed exists outside of government. It is an immutable and universal law, recognized in the Talmud, the Bible, in Lex Rex (1644), the Magna Carta and the Bill of Rights, and even that decision is illuminated by the Federalist Papers numbers 28,29 and 48.
I will not go where I cannot defend myself.

This topic should be "not available" it's over a year and a half old.

Well, could have started a new thread but I thought it was interesting that the group of anti-gun people who started that website, hoping to take business away from businesses/restaurants that don't discriminate against people who lawfully carry, is out of business themselves so it seems. Either that or a technical glitch in their site. Anyway, as the thread title said, I have used the site to find out what restaurants who DON'T discriminate against me and my gun. I don't believe just because a thread is old it has to die if the subject still has interest. It's also interesting to me at least that their anti-gun efforts were unsuccessful and wasted their time for over a year and a half. Look at the subject, not at the date.

Edit: Their Facebook page is pretty dead also, the one and only post was sept. 2013.

For those of you that don't:

"GFDT will stop operating as of June 1, 2015. It has been difficult for us to continually update the changing policies of the hundreds of restaurants listed in our database, and to       keep up with the many closings and new openings taking place in the restaurant industry. We want to thank all our supporters, and hope that you can all -- on your own -- ask restaurants that serve alcohol to post no-gun signs."

Allow me to interpret their explanation into a REAL explanation.

K191145 I love your Real explanation. I wanted to add another, maybe all the posted restaurants were tired of being robbed and or their un armed customers being strong armed or robbed in the parking lots !

AS A GUN OWNER, I think the no guns allowed sign is very offensive and should be replaced with a much more friendly SHEEP symbol on the door !
I believe all the anti gun crowd, liberals would also go along with this as just Seeing that gun signe gives them chills, disrupts their thoughts, makes their tummy so hurt and affects their evenings dine out with their other liberal friends.

So you think SHEEP STICKERS should be the universal less offensive fer all symbol ?

I would hate to offend sheep comparing them to liberals though. :)

I suspect that the gun free dining site actually cost restaurants that DON'T allow guns more business than those that DO allow guns. The liberals who actually cared are a small number, the majority of people don't care enough to let that be a decision maker on weather they eat there or not. HCP holders however do care if a restaurant posts so I have used the site a couple of times to make a decision. The OP's title says the site worked both ways but I don't think equally, not what the anti crowd wanted.
