Another Beretta Mini Cougar...9mm This Time

Earlier this week I brought home another Beretta. This time it was a like new 8000F Mini Cougar with a 1997 date code. It appears to have been barely fired, if any at all. It had a good coating of dust inside & out & when I took it apart to clean & lube it, I didn't even get a Q-tip worth of carbon. This is a clean pistol & the bore is slick & shiny. I have plans to add a Cougar D model spring to lighten the trigger pull, perform a "G" conversion (turns safety into a decoker only), & then feed it a generous supply of +P. There's just something about a Beretta.

Thanks. IMHO the Cougars are better shooters than the 92/96 models, but I like them all. Last year I traded a mint 92SB for a brand new SIG P220c. Those old blued Berettas really have some character. Maybe I'll find another one someday.

The full size & the mini Cougar both use the same slide & 3.6" barrel. The only difference is the length of the grip. The magazines, slides, & barrels are interchangable so you can own one pistol & shoot multiple calibers as long as you have the uppers/barrels for it (except the .45, which is a bit larger). The 8000 mini holds 15 rounds with the full length mag & 10 rounds with the mini mag inserted. The advantages over the 92 series was the Cougar was available in 9mm, .357, .40, & .45 & it's more compact. The rotating barrel lowers recoil forces making them shoot even smoother than the larger 92/96 models. The grips are more ergonomic to me than the 92 models. IMO the Cougars are the most fun to shoot of the Beretta pistols.
