New AR Build

Derailed by the AKs. Shame.

Hahaha just messing with ya. I have tried my best to like AKs and I own a vz58 but that will probably be the extent of my 7.62x39 collections as AR'S are just too sex and I can change anything out on them!

Have you ever thought about a 5.45x39mm? Get an AK-74 and a 5.45 upper, and boom. You can have an AK, and an AR that both share the same ammo!

And, to me at least, I think the AK and the AR both look good in their own respect. The AK is like an Apache, and the AR a Corvette. I, personally, like the way the AK looks. Yea, it may have its downfall here or there, but in the end, I just have a preference towrads AK's. Maybe, one day, an AR will change my mind.

Funny you should say that since the Russians have adopted a new rifle using the same 1913 system we adopted about a decade ago... but I concede to your pics hilarity.

Thats one of the members avatars. I really want a saiga in .308, but the ar keeps pulling me in. I passed a deal on a saiga for another ar. My biggest bane is bringing myself to buy a G3. I have beating around the bush for so long that I ended up with an FAL. You should be able to put together a cheap range rifle for around $550 to $600.

I thought that was only for special Special Operations units due to its over-complicity? (yes, I know I used the word "special" twice) And instead, they are using something similar to this.

May you please direct me to where lower-priced but still up-to-par quality parts are? right now I'm browsing Aim Surplus and my total came to right about $1,275.

You're thinking of the AN-94(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AN-94), what I posted is an AK-12, the new rifle that will be replacing ALL the other AK variants eventually, or rather WAS.

I was not aware that the Russians are now issuing AN-94's to the common grunt. One thing I do know however, at least the last time I checked, Bulgaria's standard issue service rifle was a standard AKM. I doubt that is still true (the last time I checked was about 2007) so please educate me.

Nah, AN's aren't being issued to the common soldier and they WERE looking at replacing all their conventional small arms with AK-12's and variants of it. Apparently their excuse for not doing so was that they had too many fully functional unused AK's as it is. I guess one of those, "if it ain't broke" type thoughts on it.

When you give away ak's, you let other countries build them.

When other countries build them, you go broke.

When you go broke, you can't get "better" guns.

When you can't get better guns, people on the internet make fun of you.

When people on the internet make fun of you, you get mad.

When you get mad, you start WW III.

Don't start WW III. Get Direct TV.
