Any One here into RC (NOT COLA)

My friend is into RC trucks, I am tempted but $600-$800 is a lot of coinage for a toy.

I think a helicopter or a quad copter would be cool. I’d fly it over some of these guys houses and see if they have the ability to shoot it down. biggrin.gif

we used to be into it but then just lost interest with nitro. Our son wanted one so we got him a entry level 1/18th that has replaceable parts so when he breaks something it doesn't become a paper weight. And now I have re gained some of that spark that made me remember what was so fun about it. Decided to go electric this time so not have to fuss with the nitro and the break in and tuning all the time.

Just was curious about who might be on here that has other hobbies than just firearms.

LOL shortly after this post my son ran his car into the wall and broke the front steering block.. AHHHHH now I remember the frustration!

I was big into R/C cars and trucks in the 80's and early 90's. I was the first of my friends to have a chain driven car, and that things was the fastest around. Today, I can't afford another expensive hobby.

I've been wanting to get a really top of the line gas helicopter for the longest time. Will do so eventually, but not sure what setup is best to start out and I never seem to have all the hours free to research it and learn all the details. So I just recently got a Syma 107 battery powered helicopter on Amazon for only $15. This thing is all steel and flies great indoors which is fun when you want a little enjoyment at night or in bad weather. Chasing the dog around takes some practice even with this small 3.5 channel unit but it's fun.

Why gas? Everyone I talk to says go electric??

Here's a link I found interesting.

This looks pretty cool in the $500 price range. It can carry a Hero 3 camera.

This looks cool at $200, can’t carry a Hero 3 but has a camera built in.

I there is a different sound and feel with nitro or 4 stroke gas RC. Nitro was just a PITA to keep up and running to be able to enjoy it! So I guess if flying a chopper that the gas would have more realism to it??

I have a small indoor heli. Fun to fly, wish I had one of the big boys, just too expensive for me. RC is fun,

whatever it is, tho.

Maybe a little. Never got into boats or cars.6usupyme.jpg5esuju9u.jpg

My dad has a sezna about the size of your blue and white one and a P51 mustang the size of your yellow and green one. They have never flown. I borrow his traxxis every once in a blue moon. He spends most of the time now on his harley and bayliner. Ill take some photos and upload them later.

I used to race a couple of different 1/8th & 1/10th nitromethane classes, monster-truck, stadium truck & on-road sedans mostly.

I still have a few in storage but I haven't found any local tracks to race them on down here in TN so they don't get "played with" much any more, although the monster-trucks don't really need a track, so maybe I'll dig one or two out and fire them up to play with in the yard or culde'sac or something.

I had a Nitromethane powered Truck but that got to aggrivating having to always tune this and check that . Plus there was so much "after run" crap to deal with and clean up on the engine. So I got a Traxxas Rustler that is electric . Its AWESOME ! It has a brushless motor and it will outrun my Nitromethane truck anyday ! Plus with electric there is no after-run procedure and no tuning all the time. Here it is with the body on and off sitting on a stand I made.

Yep, one of my many other hobbies! LOL  I've raced just about everything since the late 80's. Finally reduced my collection to mainly carpet oval, REVO, 1/8 buggy and a slash for the kids to play with.

Check out:  www.nashrcracer.com

Thunder is the local indoor track: carpet on-road & oval,  dirt off-road. Lots of good guys there and fun times.
