I doubt much of any of that stuff sells.

Then how do these idiots control the vast majority of the .22 stock?

They don't ...

By looking on Armslist and craigslist it seems like the only place one can find .22. Not only that, the last time I spoke to the sporting goods guy a Walmart, he explained that it is the same few people waiting in the mornings to buy out all the stock. Seems to be the case all around the country.

Agreed TMF - it's the same here in Knoxville and Nashville.  Same a$$hats, who know the delivery schedules show up and buy up all they can.

It's the same across most of the country.  I suppose there are a few smaller communities where this isn't the case, but they have to be the exception.

Even the ammo manufactures are claiming they are making more than ever - it's not a lack of production.

Here are a couple of great articles.

This is a great explanation, pay close attention to the "Demand" section: http://sierrabullets.wordpress.com/2014/04/07/why-cant-i-find-22-lr-ammunition/

This one is almost a year old, but still relevant: http://www.americanrifleman.org/article.php?id=26757&cat=27&sub=31&q=1

In the end, it boils down to too many people want something that is has become scarce because of increased demand.  Pile on the gougers and the hoarders...... you have the last two years.

This is exactly why I said "they don't".  The ultimate solution for 22lr and other rimfire calibers to become widely available again is to raise the retail pricing to what the market will apparently bear, i.e. around 10-12 cents per round.  When people are no longer able or comfortable paying that price, inventory will build and the price will settle in to whatever folks are willing to pay, keeping in mind that demand was pretty much meeting production before the latest round of craziness ...

Dammit, I believe you are right. Damn Obama for running his mouth 2 years ago. I'm stocked up on CCI mini mags, but I can't shoot it because I'm afraid I can't replace it.

I agree with everyone here in saying these people are buttheads, however, I'm not gonna waste my time flagging them anymore. I used to be able to make maybe 1/20 disappear by being that magical person to hit the cap and have their posting removed. Now armslist has raised the cap so high that no matter how many times a listing gets flagged, it is still there. They can keep their neckbeards, I just won't go there anymore.

Hmmmm, well I guess I can't say for certain, but I remember reading it somewhere. We also used to see "Got em!" posts every once in a while in this thread, Not anymore. That along with what I posted before leads me to believe it's true, but again I can't be certain.

Does anyone know if the poster gets a message each time someone flags it as overpriced, or only when it's shut off?

only when it's shut down, i think. i got one before for something that wasn't closing my posting but i don't remember what it was for.

You guys do realize that the buyers are the problem, not the sellers.  The more ads there are for 22 ammo the lower the price will go.  If I can sell you a pile of dog doo for $10 and you walk away happy, then who is responsible for driving up the price of dog doo?

i understand what you're saying, but there isn't enough competition in the resellers to affect the reselling price. yes, more ads would be better, but that isn't going to happen because of the limited supply to everyone.

I'm not looking to buy dog doo, only trying not to step in it
