I hardly ever bother reading these types of articles.   But I do enjoy reading the lambasting the author's get in the comment section.  I hope the girl who wrote it is the sensative type.

So, let me get this straight MSN....you are saying the overwhelming majority of the cited 31K gun deaths a year are caused by criminals and mentaly ill and somehow all the other responsible gun owners are the problem? The study analyzed the results of 16 other studies and found that in all but one, access to guns was linked to a higher probability of murder or suicide.

As someone that has responded to both suicides and homicides I can say that is a true statement. People that use guns in a suicide attempt are usually successful. People with homicidal tendencies that have access to guns more than likely will be successful.That’s just an observation from responding to those calls; no facts or figures to back that up.

Absolutely correct the more lethal the tool, the higher probability of success. Applies to almost anything. If you use/do something with a known result, the chances are you will see that same result.
