How do I get a carry permit?

Im new to the whole handgun field and was wondering what I need to do to carry a gun in TN. How much does it cost? Places to get licenses in or around Jackson TN. And any other info yall might want to share.

Pass a certified Handgun course. Pay the $150 application fee at the DMV. Go get finger printed and wait approx. 90 days. Not sure about locations around Jackson, sorry.

The fee is $115 not $150. Basically, find a place that gives the course (prices can range from $50-$200 depending on where you take it), take the course, go to the DMV/DoS, fill out an application, pay the fee, go get your fingerprints taken, then wait.

Reports are that it is taking most of the 90 days the law allows for people to get their permits these days.

It depends. Some are getting them in under 30 days. I got mine in 50 something.

Are you from Jackson? If you are the church I go to here in Jackson offers the class. I will check and see when the next class is tomorrow at church. The class cost is around $60, it depends on the size of the class.

What area do you live in? There's generally several reputable places to take your course in any given area... almost.

The Great Outdoor store offers classes for $85.

Looks like the next class is Oct 4th.

I have never been there so can't comment on quality of the class or range.

Welcome to TGO.

The Great outdoor Store, Gander Mountain, Tennessee Sports Foundation, and Max Guard Security all offer courses in Jackson. Prices range from $65 to $85. I know the people who give the courses at TSF and Gander (same people at both). If you want to PM me, I'll try to get you hooked up.
