Does anyone have a preference on a brand or type of camo paint to use on a long gun. I have an old moisin nagant I will be putting a nylon stock on and was curious if someone has had a good or bad experience with this.

I've had good experiences with the Rustoleum camo spray paint.

That works just fine.

For more "stick" and less "flake" long term I use KG GunKote.

I got my stuff from a hobby store, and finished it off with several coats of matte clear. So far it's held up to a few seasons of hunting, but I'm not going to be bragging about the professional nature of my paint job by any means.

I'm half-tempted to make another attempt at the disruptive camo, but be a little more thorough... but that would entail a serious amount of time and effort. Took me long enough to get the finish you see there.

gutterboy, it looks great.

What paint below the clear did you use?

I guess it was Testors paint-whatever the stuff in the model section of a hobby shop was. Not the most cost-effective solution, but I had a good selection of colors. After all, lots of folks build military models and need to drop drab paints on them.

The real fun part was working out the pattern. What I did was I found a high-quality image online of a swatch of MARPAT. I printed out several copies, took each printout, and painstakingly cut out a single color out of each to make a series of stencils. And then the painting began.

Glad you like it. I'm just never satisfied with my own work. :)
