500,000 rounds of 22 - Brentwood, TN

I just saw an ad on Armslist and a guy in Hendersonville wants $95 for 500. He said it was "gun show" prices!  For these kinds of prices my kids will shoot bb guns when I run out of .22 ammo. 

 

 

Flag that sucker as overpriced..... I did.

Like most everyone here, I'll never fire another .22 rimfire at those prices. I have a long memory as well. If and when things get better, I'll remember the gougers.

If it were my company, I'd have sold those 2 pallets at cost for a few reasons:

 

1) It'd sell quickly and I'd make my money back

2) Customers would realize there's better places to buy than the "armslist resellers"

3) I'd be stealing customers from the resellers

4) I'd be drawing in customers who would possibly buy other items with better profit margins

5) I'd generate positive attitudes about my business and potentially generate repeat customers

 

Looks like what EW is doing is having the same effects... just exactly opposite.  That's 2 stores in that area I'll never visit.

I doubt that would work. You'd be A) supplying the resellers b) anytime anyone catches wind if having cheap .22 people come from all around and that's all the buy. I've seen it myself through my own work.

No more then what Walmart sells it for. I don't understand the "need" for $70-$100 / brick of .22lr ammo.

Show your DL and I would record the # on a log to make sure you don't buy more later. And I'd mark each box "Sold at cost for $X by Acme Guns, not for resale. Thanks for your business!"

Employees may be customers but if all the customers leave, are those employees going to pay their own wages?

Not that the employees should be cut out but there's a balancing act for sure.

I am sure there will always be a few people that will pay the price to get what they want. I guess if I was totally out of 22 ammo and it was the only weapon I had to defend my self and my home with I might buy 1 brick or just enough to protect myself and my home but would not buy it to just go and shoot it up for fun........................jmho

I'm guessing WW is WallyWorld - Wal-Mart, an international big-box retailer that sells everything from food to furniture to TVs to ammo. EW probably stands for Everything Weapons - a local firearms store run by ammo gougers. :-)

If that's the case, the Wal-Mart manager that he talked to has to be a idiot to say that. I've heard from more then one WM employee that they can only buy after they get off shift and not before it gets stocked on the shelves. But who knows what goes on at different stores. If you think that there is something shady going on call their complaint number and report it. 1-800-WAL-MART  I did just that last year and got a reply from the store manager in just a couple days, and a follow up call from Wal-Mart. Just my :2cents:

1) this store is trying to provide some much needed competition to the firearms community in Brentwood and Franklin. You guys out in the state can bad mouth us as rich snobs, but most of us like to watch how we spend our money like everyone else. 2) if you actually go in the store and look at the prices of ALL the merchandise including guns and ammo EW is competitive or beats other major players in the Nashville market. They are not perfect, they have had "growing pains" as a new business, but again they have offered much needed competition to the local market. 3) I personally asked the owner about the pricing on this 22 ammo. I believe him when he states his markup is no more or less than a lot of his other ammo. You can castigate him for paying too much, making a bad decision, not deciding to sell for a loss etc etc if you like...but I think you should realize he personally is NOT gouging. If you look on gunbot 22 ammo is posted all day long at 16-17 cents/ round. So it sucks, and right now everyone is a loser, but EW tried to provide a product at the current market price. They may take a bath on it, I don't know...but I think this vendetta to make them out as worse than all the old retirees reselling, or the internet sharks is misplaced. 4) franklin and Brentwood NEED 2nd amendment friendly businesses that EXPAND the importance of our 2nd amendment rights to a portion of our community that otherwise has ignored these issues. Look at their business as a whole instead of damning them on a difficult 22lr market that I don't see ANYONE doing too well at right now. 5). I don't work there. I am a customer that buys from EVERY gun shop in the Nashville area. In the past year I have purchased from G&L, DT, Nash Armory, Franklin GS, EW, and others.
