Ruger Air Hawk!

Picked up a Ruger Air Hawk this past weekend, it had seen a little bit of neglect - rust speckling on the exterior. Cleaned all of that up with some CLP and 0000 steel wool, looks sharp now!

I'm loving the heavier weight of this little air rifle. It didn't have the scope with it, and I don't want to tear up any of my normal scopes on this air rifle. Any suggestions for a decent but sub $70 air rifle scope?

I'm also trying to figure out what weight pellets to use without buying a bunch of different overweight pellets that I know I can't use in any of my other airguns. Anyone had one and know what they "generally" seem to like? I've got some 7.9gr wadcutter and hollow points laying around.

Hope to get some time this weekend with it while it's nice out with this little guy and maybe some others.

Congratulations. I'm trying out a few different kinds of pellets in my new Gamo silent cat. Mine seems to really like the Gamo red fire 7.8 grain pellets. I am using the iron sights (actually fiber optic). My dad has already taken the scope that came with it or I'd let you have it.

Best 3 shot group from 25 yards using the side mirror of my truck as a support.

Roger, I'm giving the Crossman Premier a try, just picked up a tin of their HP pellets.

I've used the Gamo Red Fire pellets in another rifle, they seem accurate enough in my Gamo, but my Pumpmaster 760 didn't get along with them.

Spent all day today painting, hopefully get some time tomroow!

My Benjamin Nitro, loves Crosman Premeir .22 hps.  I spend more time shooting my air rifle, than I do shooting my firearms.  It's nice to step out into the backyard and burn through 50 or so pellets without having to drive to and from the range.

BTW, I picked up my Nitro at a pawn shop for $70 out the door.  One of the best deals I've ever gotten at one!

If you really want to get as accurate as you can. Just as you would weigh bullet before hand loading, weigh the pellets. Makes a difference when you are shooting them 50 yards or more.

For a sub $70 scope try a CenterPoint or a Leapers. As for a general all around good shooting pellet I recommend The Crosman Premier LIGHTS 7.9 gr.

Theses are not what you will find in most of the chain stores. They will come in a cardboard box. NExt would be JSB Match Diabolo 8.4 gr.

I'm sure you are not going to like the fact you will likely have to mail order them. But when it comes to quality pellets that are CONSISTENT you almost have no other option.

I can't speak for current Gamo pellets, but the last I tried were BAD. I fully expect them to be subpar compared to others, as I had shot other gamo pellets before. But come on, look at the "quality" they put in there. These should never have made it out of the factory. The groups looked like a a shotgun pattern.

Once you find the pellet your rifle likes. You can stack them in there at 90 in a hole.

That is 90 shots in the center target. Rifle used was an Airforce Talon SS.

The "fliers" were ants and way over on the right is the remains of a yellow jacket.
