Walmart .22 limits decreased.

Recommended Posts

Hey yall, I'm just throwing this out there. Looks like the Alcoa Tn walmart has removed the one box limit on.22lr ammo. The do have the old signs up that allow 3 boxes of .22 per customer per day, I also do not see any signs for the 3box limit for any other ammo. You all have a great day and happy shopping. My local wally world got rid of the limit back in the fall but when I was in there last week they have a new sign up limiting only .22lr

It's not like it really helps though.

So right. It's still a matter of timing. Meaning being there before the professional buyers.

As Mac posted enough complaints about not getting one, change the policy and take down the signs so we can't get three.

Problem solved for WM...no more complaints.

folks why do we even care to support their ammo sales? The complaints posted typically are metro areas with other choices. For TGO-ers in rural areas with one lgs in 50 miles with sky high prices I can see it but in Knox or Nash?

I am proud to say I have spent zero dollars in WM in the last 120 days. I would plan shopping at WM to coincide with ammo needs. When the ammo went away I had no reason to go to WM and simply shopped elsewhere.

I wouldn't know if walmart had .22 stacked to the ceiling as I haven't been in the local store since last year.  If they want to allow a few professional buyers take it all, there is no reason for me to go there.  When I'm traveling across the state I may check the stores in every few weeks but I don't waste time going to the local walmart.

We never had the 1 box limit on any ammo at our local WM. Ours has always been 3 boxes, total per day. I guess the 1 box limit was more of a local store policy then a nation wide policy.  Don't really make any difference, if you can't get it. Most types of ammo has been sitting on the shelves the past couple of weeks. Good sign!

As for getting .22lr ammo, it's still a crap shoot. If your not there when they put it out, chances are your not going to get any.  When is this going to stop? When people stop paying $80-$120 a brick for it!  Just my :2cents:

Bottom line, that has always been the answer, but there is a disconnect somewhere.  The Professional buyers keep buying it and reselling it because some idiot thinks they NEED it at the inflated price.  As much as I despise what the resellers are doing to the shooting community, I can't say they aren't offering a service to those that are so desperate to get their hands on .22 immediately.

Stop buying it, they'll stop selling it.

A couple weeks ago, two of the WalMarts here in town got rid of the 3 box limit for all calibers except 22lr. I noticed this and got my hopes up thinking that they would start getting a much more steady supply in, but lo and behold not even two weeks later and they've had to change the sign back (at least in the WalMart down the street from me) to their original 3 box limit regardless of caliber because they couldn't keep the shelves stocked.

Seeing the same here at my local Wally, but it's already selling faster than they can stock it unfortunately. Passed by the ammo counter earlier tonight and the shelves were bare of .45 Auto and .38 Special. Unbelievable.

.45 auto is about the only thing that I've never seen out of stock in the WalMart that I frequent. Unfortunately for me, I have nothing in that caliber. I find .38 special pretty regularly too but I don't shoot my revolver often enough to warrant me buying any. If I could just find a couple hundred rounds of .380 auto I'd be happy.

My WM has 9mm, 45 Auto, .357 Magnum, Tula 7.62, Lake City 193, .38 Special, and has been getting .380 lately, but it doesn't last long.  It has a lot of rifle calibers.

.22?  Nah.

Not that this, specifically, will help you but I did notice that the Wally in Rockwood, TN had some Winchester White Box .380 in the 100 round boxes on the shelf this past Sunday.  Not the best ammo, maybe, but they had a couple of those boxes and the price was somewhere around 36 bucks a box, about where it has been for the past, couple of years.  I guess I am saying, "Keep an eye out," because I think that is a sign that you'll have a chance at finding some.

I needed to stop by the Turkey Creek Walmart on the way home from work yesterday to pick up a few things so I checked out the ammo situation there.  Didn't really notice if they had any .380 but they had a little bit of 9mm, at least.  What they seemed to have a boatload of was .45acp.  They even had some Barnes .44 Magnum HP ammo in 20 round boxes - something I have never seen in any Walmart, ever.

The last .22 I was able to find reasonably priced was at Bass Pro.  For months, I'd wanted to get a Henry .22 but been waiting to see if .22 would begin to be available again.  While in GA this week, I got the rifle and 1000 rounds.
