He panicked from a situation he provoked. He should have stopped, shut off the snow machine and waited. If the moose can closer, plan for evasion, not continue to approach. Moose are not agile creatures. You can get behind a medium size tree and the moose won't be able to turn around it to get you. Side step the tree and you're safe. And at that point if the moose continued I'd shoot it. Seems he didn't give the moose enough time to go away. Now I'm not going to cry over one dead moose, but I hate to see life needlessly expired.

This is a tough call. I can't put myself in the snowmobile driver's shoes. The last charge looked pretty agressive. Since the moose was retreating, I would have considered a warning shot into a tree to judge moose reaction. If it charged again, I'd probably consider the shooting justified (and it'd make sure the animal was put down). I tend to agree with the observation that this fellow knew what he had as an opportunity. He was armed with both a video device and a handgun. I don't believe in coincidences. And, why holler at the moose when many snowmobiles have motorcycle-type horns?

i was waiting for the part where the moose gets up and says: so im minding my own business,and you come up and taunt me,making weird ass noise, while youre on one of the machines that make noise that scare the crap out of us, i ask you to leave and back off and you continue to taunt me. Then you shoot me. with a pea shooter, and leave me to die slowly. You sir are a fng ahole, and will probably die on your stupid machine when one of my peers broadsides your ass and machine like a freight train..

there is a difference between hunt,and kill for selfish gratification... dumb ass......
