In January 2013, following a violent year in Chicago with over 500 homicides, Center for American Progress board member Christie Hefner ridiculously claimed that global warming was a leading culprit. "There is a dramatic increase in gun violence when it is warmer, and we are having this climate-change effect that is driving that," she told MSNBC. Her faux concerns are being mimicked in the L.A. Times, which is promoting an alarming new study by research firm Abt Associates. They find that, "Between 2010 and 2099, climate change can be expected to cause an additional 22,000 murders, 180,000 cases of rape, 1.2 million aggravated assaults, 2.3 million simple assaults, 260,000 robberies, 1.3 million burglaries, 2.2 million cases of larceny and 580,000 cases of vehicle theft." Gee, that sounds about as likely as all those fantastical predictions from climate models. Then again, Leftists attribute everything to global warming.

I will say that when the weather turns warmer there definitely is more crime, especially assaults. I know when I worked in LE we dreaded the first really nice weekend because it always was busy because all the people who were indoors for the winter months finally got out and acted like a bunch if idiots. There definitely is more crime in the summer than in the winter.

While this is true to an extent, (as a former LEO myself), I think that they are going on historic numbers dating waaaay back when there was a more of a lack of AC in the inner city. It still could be the case considering electric bills. Heat always lead to much more domestic violence and thus assaults and murders.

There is more crime during summer months. No doubt, live up North thats a given. Thats not what this idiot is blaming crime on. If she would have said that it was because of warmer months then she would have simply been stating the obvious. 

 

No, crime is caused by the effects of Climate Change. If I really cared more (I dont) I would have to look at the Crime numbers in Southern California. Where they do not exactly get sub zero temps and 4 feet of snow.
