Sound fair, I have a stainless with a green lamented mannlicher stock I paid a bit less for.

Well, the Sporter is only higher because of the stock, so I guess the shape it's in determines whether it's worth it.

Btw, Ruger doesn't currently show a Sporter in stainless, but guess they offered it in the past, or it's a distributor exclusive maybe.

Condition appears like new. I sent him a message, we'll see if he replies.

Must have been a good deal cause it sold. I saw one at the gun show today for $330 +tax TICS, and thought that was a little high. Didn't try to haggle though, probably should have.

Lipseys shows them in stock but they are allocated. If your local FFL dealer has a good relationship with his Lipseys sales rep, he might be able to get you one. When I want a special gun, I usually just buy one off Gunbroker. Even after paying shipping and a transfer fee, it is still usually cheaper than buying from a local gun shop and you have a much larger selection.

It would probably be worth a call to Whittaker's in KY.  They will almost always have the best price if they have it and they usually have as much stock as anyone, but they go through it fast.

You can also send them a PM on Facebook as sometimes that is easer as thier phone's can be hard to get through on.

They have 41 10/22's and none are the models I want. Basically I want a wood stock without the barrel band.

Get a carbine and take the band off. It's not required. :)

Or get a OEM wood stock.

I think the longer barrel is more desirable than anything I'd like to have the 18" barrel. And for about $210 you can add about any stock you want and be under the $350 the sporters seem to be going for.

Carbine and Sporter are both 18.5", same exact gun cept stocks AFAIK.
