Walmart 3 box limit

Not sure if this marks a change for walmarts everywhere (or if it's old news) but the walmart in Clarksville on 41a / ft campbell blvd changed their signs saying there is a 3 box limit on .22 ammo specifically, implying the daily limit no longer applies to other types. I just bought 4 boxes each of cheapo 5.56 and 7.62 (8 total)

Interesting! The Walmart closest to me in Brentioch still had the 3 box limit sign as of yesterday; I'll keep my eye on it. I went by a few other Walmart stores in the Nashville area a few days ago, and can't remember specifically what signs they had, but seem to think they were the same old ones. I also swung by the Dick's & Academy in Rivergate. Academy had a sign about limits on .22 only; Dick's I didn't look for a sign. Both were quite empty of ammo, so it was a moot point anyway. Bass Pro at Opry Mills had a 1-box limit on .22 bulk (slightly higher for boxes of 50), and some CCI Green Tag 100-packs in stock... not much plinking ammo in pistol calibers, but quite a bit of self-defense ammo & rifle calibers. My local Walmart has had a small but steady supply of .40, .45, .223, .380, .357 sig, .38, .357 mag, and a fair amount of rifle rounds. The 9mm was empty for a while, but just got a big chunk of it, and it's still mostly intact 3 days later. No hits on .22 yet (other than shotshells), but I remain optimistic.

It's been several years since I looked for ammo (basically went into hibernation for the last few years), and its been a real nice breath of fresh air to finally see ammo on the shelves, and staying there for more than 20 minutes.

The Walmart in Brentioch had the new sign up yesterday *in addition to* the old sign. Talking with the normal ammo counter guy (who's a really nice guy), he said he was under the impression that headquarters just wanted to reinforce the 3-box limit for .22. While that doesn't make sense to me (and I'm guessing he's mistaken), it brings up an interesting point: is the supply / demand ratio back to a place where rationing can be removed? Or will the shelves go bare again?

He also made the comment that he wished management would reduce the allowable purchase of .22 bulk packs to one per person, while keeping the limit of 3 boxes per person for the 50 & 100 packs of .22. He said he'll only receive 10 (sometimes 20) .22 bulk packs at a time, and with the 3-box limit, that only serves 3 to 7 people before it's gone again.

I've been to two walmarts in the last couple of days, both have lifted the 3 box limit except for .22lr.  Hooray!  Both walmarts had stock as well, I'm stocked on the calibers I shoot!
