There is no getting away from this. Which is why my house is now completely covered with cameras while I am away. Sucks to be this guy.

I'm just going to laugh at him getting caught now.

Great job on the camera, heez busted for sure.

A setup like this makes the cops job so much easier. Heck, they could see this, ID the guy, then go have lunch and pick him up at their leisure. Technology is great, now if the criminals were not so stupid they would realize "It just isnt worth it" in most cases.

That's really good video. Unfortunately most homeowners don't spend cheap insurance money to catch someone after the fact. Kind of interesting how the robber came right in like he'd been there before and knew where everything was at...

That's the truly freaky part.  There was no sign of forced entry and the guy locked the door on his way out.  He had some sort of master key.

Likely a simple bump key, They have pretty much made 90% of the locks on the shelves at your local hardware store useless. If you want locks that will actually stand a chance at keeping thieves out look into abloy or bilock cylinders.

Also remember that you don't have to make your entire house a fortress just a bit more secure than the neighbors'. Quality door locks are a great first step.

I live in the city and have an alarm. The cops get there before they'd have a chance to remove and scoot out of there. Not to mention the 135 db alarm going off is kind of a buzz kill, letting the neighbors and the intruder know that things aren't right.

Same here. You can't move a single door/window in my house without it sounding like there is a squad car in the living room.

I've had the sheriff here is less than 5 min when I've set it off.

5 min is an eternity when thieves are in your house. In 3 min. at my last home 2 thieves walked out the front door in broad daylight with $20k in electronics and valuables(including a 50" plasma) By the time the police arrived the house was re-secured and the thieves were gone.

Should be easy enough to pick him up.... he's a IDPA shooter, just check the local matches.

youre right, that vest, its the vest,.....look for the only guy who has a non royal robbins/511 vest at next idpa! lol

It's a chance they take. I know in areas where response times are long the criminals might not be scared off by an alarm, but most should. An alarm, at a minimum should be a deterrent from entering, however, at the least it will keep them from staying and taking anything that is well secured. In 3 minutes it's hard to break into safes and locate the hidden stuff. All the can do is grab stuff as quick as possible. Only so much they can take in that short amount of time. Imagine if their time was unlimited. At least the stuff they take only has monetary value unless they found the guns and jewelry unsecured. Otherwise, that's why we have insurance.
