My first knife

Recommended Posts

So I tried my hand at making knife. It is out if O1 and made using basic tools. I discovered I need to invest in a belt sander. The design is not mine, I was inspired by goughcustom.com. I'm still amazed at the edge I was able to put on this blade. My thumb has informed me that it is surgical sharp. na7asepu.jpg I'm having problems deciding on handles though. I'm looking at G10, kirinite (any one tried this yet?), or wood. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
Looks good to me. As far as scales, I vote for wood. I'd even be willing to send you some oak if you want oak. Sent barefoot from the hills of Tennessee
I was originally leaning towards wood. I have some east India rosewood here but I've broken two sets trying to get it cut right. Also, anyone know of someone near Hixson, Soddy, Dunlap that does kydex? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD

That looks great!

If you can do the filing work on that knife, rolling your own kydex is a breeze. Sandwich some high density closed cell foam from an old camp mattress between some plywood and you've got a press. Add in a rivet kit or screws from knifekits.com and you're on your way.

Finally the G10 and kydex came in! Now I just need a day off. Also does anyone in the Dunlap, Kimball, Soddy, Dayton area have the punch to put 1/4" eyelets into kydex? USAKnifemaker was out when I ordered my stuff. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD Edited by Dane

Is there a Tandy Leather shop near you? They should have one - I'd call first.

Home Depot or Lowes should carry a grommet setter, not sure how different that would be from the eyelet setter.
