Has anyone from TGO or know of someone who got an elk hunt in TN

Recommended Posts

As I look into putting my name in the hat for the TN elk draw, I began to wonder if anyone from TGO, or anyone you know, got to be one of the lucky 4(or have enough money to be the 5th that purchased the tag;) that got to hunt them .   I went to Utah for my first elk hunt in 2013, and I can not stop thinking about elk hunting.  I put in for the Utah muzzle loading tag, will probably take 5-10 years to get anough points to get it.  I am also going to start putting in for TN elk in the off chance that I get lucky!!

Do you really have a pet cow? That's crazy

Of course she is not "mine", but I have spent a few days next to her on the hunting stand. That bull was 50-75 yards away all day, the cow was 25 yards or less.

Along with them, there is a whole population that is relatively tame - nosing in backpacks, UTV/ATVs, wanting back & belly scratching. Over the years we have had several poke their head in a tent blind.

This one will eat a apple out of your hand, and bed down a few feet from you, neither are spooked by gun-shots (at deer & turkey)

Bottom line for TN elk hunting IMHO, if it ain't spooked and running, it's probably not a sporting kill.

(the cow has a birthmark, so we have been able to easily identify her since the season she was born)
