P.S. I personally consider Madison better than Antioch, but then again I do live there.. grin.

The guys holding down the fort in the Green Zone think it's safer than other parts of Iraq too. :D

I suppose that's true enough. From what I've heard, even though it's better than it was, it's still not completely safe anywhere there. Then again, how many places anywhere is it completely safe? Accidents happen.. people are negligent.. people do things with criminal, even homicidal intent.. and in the case of Iraq, Afghanistan, etc.. people do things with an evil intent killing their victims in terrorist attacks.

Even if you live in a Mayberry, the bad guys can pay a visit. Madison isn't as safe as it used to be.. but as I said, it's not completely safe anywhere.

Tower that is awesome for you to offer that.

I have never stayed at an "extended stay" hotel, so I don't know much about them....I mean I don't know why I would mind staying at one.

Brentwood is the "nice" part of town right?...where all the stars live.

tungsten is right about that..but I'm in the "nice part" of Brentwood. I love the quip about "the green zone" tung..where are we? Lebanon??? LOL!

Mason,

the extended stay hotels come with a kitchen and couch and are less expensive than the day rate hotels..I can get you one for for about 49 a night with the corporate rate we're getting to stay here.

it also comes with a spacious closet and a chest of drawers...that sort of thing. Its great for someone who doesn't want to stay in a fleabag with hot and cold running cockroaches, but doesn't have the money to stay in a hotel with crazy prices.

Just a little suburb rivalry to keep it interesting. Didn't mean anything by it.

Mason, if you don't mind staying at an extended stay hotel, I can get you pretty dang good rates here at the studio hotel in Brentwood. (we're right next to the Hilton).

I think I can get you a room with a bed area, sitting area, small desk and a complete kitchen for about 55 bucks a night. (I get the corporate rate here because I work for General dynamics). All I need to do is tell them that your coming in and they need to reserve a suite for ya. they will and at the appropriate rate too.

I spend most of my life in hotel rooms so I can tell you that this one is ok. the pool is small and it's not the Ritz, but its comfortable, spacious and clean. the cable is good and you have wireless internet that ain't too bad either, if you use a laptop.

anyhow, my number is 606-273-5004

MemphisMason,

I would take TowerClimber's offer. I think that you will have a hard time beating the price or location. That is convenient to I-65 which will get you to downtown Nashville in 10-12 min. They have been doing some road work on 65 so you could drive in on Franklin Road which runs parallel to 65 and will also get you downtown easily. There is also Cool Springs Galleria in the Brentwood/Franlkin area which is a better shopping area than Opry Mills. No Bass Pro Shops though. There is Franklin Gun Shop which has as good of a selection as anyone that I've seen. They are a little pricy. Good place to look.

Good luck and have a great weekend!

I live about 5 miles from Opry Mills. There are many hotels close by. My suggestion would be at the elm hill pk exit from briley pkwy. There is a Marriot, Holiday Inn and all the other big names. Also you are just off I40 and a few minutes from the mall itself. Along McGavock Pk, which is next to the mall, are several more of the big names, but tend to be a little more pricier.

Like others have said I would avoid Antioch and some parts of Madison.

If you need eyes on the ground let me know if I can be of assistance.

The fiddlers inn right on music valley drive, right off mcgavock is nice. Cracker Barrel is right next door..and if you want to go see the gardens in the Opryland Hotel...you can walk there...it is practically right across the way. The Nashville Palace is close by...and of course...you can go to COOTER'S!!!! which is right around the corner :-) Oh...and fiddler's inn is not "pricey"

+1000000000000 unless your whole family is packing. Try to find something around Vanderbilt. Its in the middle of town & you can normally get a good deal if you price line it. Theres 2 new hotels a Hampton in & I think a Holiday in express they just built right off of I40 @ tjhe Mt. Juliet exit. You should be able to stay there pretty reasonable.

My cousin and aunt came down...stayed around vanderbilt on the weekend...was nothing but partying...they moved to another hotel the next day. Oh...and this was like the Marriot. or Sheraton...can't remember exactly which one it was though.
