Nashville Hotel????

The wife and I will be traveling to Nashville on Oct. 24-27, and we are looking for an inexpensive hotel to stay at.

We have stayed at a few different hotels up there in the past and were never really pleased 100% with any of them.

I can't stand paying to much for a crappy room that I am just going to spend 8 hours in a day.

We are planning on going to Lynchburg on the 24 and then coming on up to Nashville that evening (touring the Jack Daniel's Factory Friday)

then go up to Adams, TN. to the Bell witch Cave on the 25 (all Day Sat.)

then take the wife shopping all day Sunday at Opry Mills and what not on the 26 (all gosh durn day Sunday)

then come on home Moday sometime.

So......where do you Nash Vegas guys like to put up Family or Friends when they come. Inexpensive but still descent. I would love to spend under $60 a night.

Thanks for any help

This is where I am currently thinking about, they are just outside Nashville a little ways.

Crestewood Suites

Say no to Antioch.

+1000000000000 unless your whole family is packing. Try to find something around Vanderbilt. Its in the middle of town & you can normally get a good deal if you price line it. Theres 2 new hotels a Hampton in & I think a Holiday in express they just built right off of I40 @ tjhe Mt. Juliet exit. You should be able to stay there pretty reasonable.

The last time I stayed in Nash was at a hotel on West End Ave across from the Centennial Park.

I do believe my next stay will be there as well!

I'm sure with right security detail, three or four high speed SUVs and

an ability to call in either air support or artillery.... Antioch is just fine. :dirty:

I'm the original cheap bastard when it comes to hotel rooms. The wife and I usually stay at Microtel hotels. They're tiny but they're cheap and out of dozens of them, only one did I find unsatisfactory. Besides, all I'm doing is sleeping there anyway, unless... :D.

Plus you might want to double check with JD about being open that day. The big bbq cookoff is Saturday and it is a national competition, so it's kinda crazy. I'm guessing they'll be open, but their hours might change. If you've never been there, Lynchburg is a crazy small town. It's not a town where everyone knows everyone, it's more like everyone is related to everyone.

If it was me, I'd so Saturday to Lynchburg, but I like food.:yum:

You know, Smyrna is on the way to Lynchburg and we have several nice hotels right off of I-24 on Sam Ridley Parkway and there's a huge Super Target shopping complex right down the road, tons of restaurants and significantly less chance of getting car-jacked or gang-raped compared to Antioch. :D

I live about 5 miles from Opry Mills. There are many hotels close by. My suggestion would be at the elm hill pk exit from briley pkwy. There is a Marriot, Holiday Inn and all the other big names. Also you are just off I40 and a few minutes from the mall itself. Along McGavock Pk, which is next to the mall, are several more of the big names, but tend to be a little more pricier.

Like others have said I would avoid Antioch and some parts of Madison.

If you need eyes on the ground let me know if I can be of assistance.

I've stayed at that Sheraton a few times before I lived here, it's decent but more than you want to spend. I'll second the Vandy area not a lot of crime down there, cool little places to grab a bite or a drink.

I agree with Tungsten. Smyrna is along I-24 and probably far enough from downtown Nashville that the price and crime rate will be alot more suitable for your needs. We have a good selection of hotels and places to eat. And for your wife, places to shop. It's also alot more convenient for your plans, or so it sounds. And for your shopping enjoyment, there are 2 reasonably close gun stores to check out if you're into that sort of thing.

definitely don't stay in antioch. I used to live there, and there were always problems. There was a little leage team that had their trailer stolen with all their equipment in it while in town for a tournament at one of the hotels right off bell rd. rivergate isn't much better. We've used some of the hotels in murfreesboro for work before and it's a much better part of town

+1 on all of the above. Definately Elm Hill Pike if you plan on seeing some sights in Nashville. I'd even call Embassy Suites and ask for the best rate. Though you'd be above your budget, you get free Conctails (albeit weak) from 5 to 7 AND free full breakfast. If you are not going to do anything in Nashville but plan on spending more time in Lynchburg, Tungsten is right on about Smyrna.

Another +1 for Smyra. There'a Hampton inn right off the highway that's nice. I worked with Shannon Speir on an event there awhile back and she was very nice. Give her a call and tell her what you need and are willing to pay. She can eitehr say yes or no. 615-355-8432. (avoid the Hilton like the plague... awful management) There's also a Sleep Inn right beside that which is good. My family stayed there when they came up for my wedding last year. 615-220-2260. Both of these places are right behind God's gift to the south, Cracker Barrel.

Have a good trip!

Thanks everyone.

Lynchburg is just a "goof off day" and gives me a reason to go to Nashville via another route besides 40. Plus I hear the tour of JD is pretty nice. I will def. call ahead and make sure they will be opened. Most of our time will be spent in Nashville and in Adams.

I have also been to the Sheraton, very nice. Every Year the CAAS (Chet Atkins Appreciation Society) hold their convention there...but it is more than I want to spend.

Last time we spent the weekend up there we stayed at:

Best Western Music Row

1407 Division St

Nashville, TN 37203

And we were not pleased. That is why I would like to stay somewhere else.

We stayed in Antioch back in 02, and we didn't have any problems, but I will deffintely take yalls advice and avoid there.

Mason, if you don't mind staying at an extended stay hotel, I can get you pretty dang good rates here at the studio hotel in Brentwood. (we're right next to the Hilton).

I think I can get you a room with a bed area, sitting area, small desk and a complete kitchen for about 55 bucks a night. (I get the corporate rate here because I work for General dynamics). All I need to do is tell them that your coming in and they need to reserve a suite for ya. they will and at the appropriate rate too.

I spend most of my life in hotel rooms so I can tell you that this one is ok. the pool is small and it's not the Ritz, but its comfortable, spacious and clean. the cable is good and you have wireless internet that ain't too bad either, if you use a laptop.

anyhow, my number is 606-273-5004

Tower that is awesome for you to offer that.

I have never stayed at an "extended stay" hotel, so I don't know much about them....I mean I don't know why I would mind staying at one.

Brentwood is the "nice" part of town right?...where all the stars live.

Parts of Brentwood border on Antioch... thus the term Brentioch can become applicable. :D

Let me ask you this: How long do you anticipate staying in the Nashville area? What's your estimated time of arrival and departure when you do? Do you anticipate just wanting a safe place to sleep or do you want that in addition to other attractions nearby?

I will be arriving Friday, Oct. 24 around mid-day to early evening and checking out on Monday, Oct. 27.

A safe place to stay would be nice, but I would like to keep the cost under $60 a night.

We will be spending most of Sat. up in Adams TN. (about 45 to 60 minutes north of Nashville), and the rest of the time in Nashville.....shopping, eating, maybe Country Music Hall of Fame, General Jackson cruise, Grand Ol Opry, Zoo, visit local gun shops....that kind of thing.

We are leaving the kid at home and are just getting out of town.

I would look for a hotel in the Hendersonville area then. It will be closer to Adams, closer to Opry Mills and within driving distance of downtown Nashville.

Madison is just like any other place.. there are some spots that are questionable, but the rest of it is just fine. Now, having said that.. in living there (roughly 14 years now, 7 yrs in the current house), I've had two cars broken into and one "Cop's" style chase ending up in my front yard. One was neighborhood kids. The second.. who knows. The Cop's thing.. MPD had rolled on a drunk, disorderly with a side order of possible domestic violence. The guy ran (that is, drove off) and wound up turning down my cul-de-sac, across a neighbor's yard and through (yes, through) the wing wall on my driveway. Surprisingly, it didn't seem to do that much damage to the truck, but I was picking up chunks of concrete & cinder block for a while. That was just a month and a half back. The other stuff was years back.

In an earlier post, someone (and I'm being lazy by not digging out the poster) recommended a hotel on Rivergate Pkwy across from the Rivergate Hooters. That location kind of squats in the junction of Goodlettsville, Hendersonville and Madison. The Crestwood you had mentioned is 3/4 (if that) mile back down Rivergate Pkwy and across Gallatin Rd (it changes names to Myatt Blvd there). Grin.. and between those two hotels is Rivergate Mall.. four anchor stores and a bunch of smaller stores. Hmm. There's an Academy Sports and a Dick's Sporting Goods staring at each other across Gallatin Rd. just a half-mile north of Rivergate Mall.

Go another mile and a half north up Gallatin Rd and you're in Hendersonville. I think I agree that if you'll choose a spot somewhere in that general area, it will give you easy access to everything you're wanting...

Restaurant info..

Amerigo's www.amerigo.net

1920 West End Ave

Nashville, TN

Good Italian food, middlin' expensive but quite nice. Don't miss the tiramisu.

Demos www.demosrestaurants.com

multiple locations..

300 Commerce St (smack in the middle of downtown)

Nashville, TN

161 Indian Lake Blvd (ask for Doug or Michael - both excellent servers)

Hendersonville, TN 37075

Other spots downtown..

Big River Grille at the foot of 2nd Ave & Broadway

Hooters, 2nd Ave & Church St.

Coyote Ugly, 2nd Ave & Commerce

You might also want to consider the Loveless Cafe out on Highway 100 west of Nashville. Great food there... world famous biscuits.

P.S. I personally consider Madison better than Antioch, but then again I do live there.. grin.
