TSA pre check

FWIW 85 bucks to fly through the line, it may not work if you walk up to the counter and buy a ticket. claim is they need time do a BG check.

They fingerprint you on site, and ask for reasonable info. time to process at the airport is @ 15 mins, for Nashville the office is next to frontier airs tick counter..park at short term very top walk across.in the end theres no super privileges, but if it helps get through a line w a hundred ahead of you its worth it. you get to keep your belt and shoes on and leave your puter in your carry on

I am Global Entry so I have it as well.  If you fly a lot, it is well worth $85.  If you travel internationally often, Global Entry is well worth it as well, but it is a bit more expensive and there isn't an office at BNA.  I had to fly to Detroit for my interview.  I haven't spent more than 5 minutes getting through passport control in a long time.

Last two flights I went on I was randomly selected and sent through the "TSA PreCheck" line. Second of the two I had my hands swiped and tested for explosive residue, and sent happliy on to my flight. Had to remove my belt because of the giant belt buckle.

Nice and fast, no extra cost to me. Felt almost like pre 2001 flying again.

I flew out of BNA last week on Southwest. I was given a pre-check boarding pass not even knowing it. Return flight out of Ontario, CA same thing. How did I get this if I didn't apply or pay? It was was really nice to sail through security.

Extortion, basically.

If extortion means that I don't have to wait in line behind the 67 families that have never flown before and can't find their documentation or their children... then all I have to ask is, where do I sign up?

Exactly, I did some math one day, people packing ten tons of bs cost me over 40 minutes of my time. from security to farting around w carry ons and the overhead, clogging the aisle while others fart around w their trash... 85 over 5 years is worth it, for me not the goat gropers.

I flew out of Knoxville on the 7th and returned early this morning.  When I flew out I got to Pre Check and I will say that it was nice.  Returning today I was treated like a common criminal as usual and had to take off my shoes and belt, as well as take my laptop out of my bag.

The fact that this is even an option pretty much nullifies everything else that TSA does.

TSA lines have become much better over the years. I fly through Nashville probably 6 times a year and never have waited for more than 10 minutes. Last time I recall ridiculously long lines at TSA was in Chicago after several days of being snowed in. I haven't bought into global entry yet because I not deal with that once or twice a year. Sometimes the line is really short and I don't spend more than 20 minutes. I've only had one experience where it took an hour to get through customs but I still didnt miss my connection.

Not really worth it to me, I guess. It is extortion. If they wanted to offer expedient service for people willing to get fingerprinted it should be free. We aren't the ones who came up with the ridiculous regulations, they did.

I was flying through Nashville once a week a few years ago and I concur that the lines were not especially problematic (although totally unnecessary, of course). I even went for the pat-down every time (the one time I was late and would have gone through the scanner, I lucked out and got to bypass it).

Pay your $85.00, get the background check and do the fingerprints.  Read the fine print, no guarantee you get the "Pre check" every time.

Plus there are lots of airports that do not have "pre-check" lines, some do not have scanners, so my new titanium knee means I get my cods fondled.

I love it when I check into a small TX airport that has a staff where half of the TSA agents wear those head scarfs and I am checking my EDC and back-up piece.

Those are most likely Sikhs. They are the good guys.

A friend of mine, a Doc, was checking a man one day and forgot that his phone ringer was on.  And you guessed it, the docs phone rang and his ringer is a duck call..

Real quiet room..........

Edit: to be more spacific he was doing a "man check" on the patent.
