Never really been into 1911s but I've heard good stuff about Rock Island Armory. Could anyone give me a second opinion on the used value of a very good condition compact model with box?

Maybe even closer to the 400 mark. RIA products have been gaining in popularity, and they are pretty reliable firearms. But that's all dependant upon model and condition.

One of my local shops had the same model in VG condition that sold for $400. I though about buying it myself. I've got the fullsize RIA tactical and it's been a great gun.

$350 would be a great deal.  $400 would be reasonable.  I have a couple RIAs and they have been as reliable as my Dan Wesson CBOB, just not as pretty.  All are more accurate than I am.  I've also heard that RIA has top notch customer service.

$350 is a good deal. The cheapest I've seen one new was for $395 (OTD) but that was a GI model with nothing on it. This one here appears to have some nice aftermarket sights, hogue grips and trigger/hammer. Whether some of that is factory or add-on, this would be a better than fair deal. If I was in the market for a compact 1911 I would buy this even if it were marred up.

I don't have $400 in gun I'm trading for it. I think it would be fun, I just hope I can get a good grip on it (I have fat fingers). It seems like 45 is all Walmart can ever keep in stock so I'm gonna go for it! Thanks for the educated second opinions!

Under these circumstances if you want a 45...snatch it and run. I don't think you can go wrong. I love my RIA 9mm. Except for the GI sights. Those gotta go.

Sold my last RIA compact for $425 to a friend. Thats fair market for a used one. Sold mine with the hogue grips and two mags.

They are only $423 new so I don’t know why anyone would think $400 is a good deal.
As many handguns as you have gone through you probably won’t like shooting any compact 1911 and especially a RIA. Don’t judge 1911’s on this gun. Just my :2cents:

The aftermarket parts on it add up to prob more than $500, not to mention not having to pay tax, tics /shipping, transfer fees; depending on where you get it from. The out the door price of whatever you saw is gonna be hovering around $500.

I had about $465 in my Metro Arms Commander with tax and tics (2010 purchase)

Sold it a year later for $400 with Hogue grips and less than 500 rounds through it.

As a side note, it seems all the non-WM big boxes have plentiful supply of .45acp

Around here they go for about $400 + tax new.  Used, it's worth what ever the buyer is willing to pay, but doubt if it would go for more than $350 used.

Saw a R.I.one go the other day on a FB site for $300. It was a government model. Needless to say, it got a lot of attention and was gone quickly. Sent from my SPH-L710 using Tapatalk

I paid $470 new with night sights on my RIA Compact .45 1911.  I'm not sure exactly what model it is (purchased in 2012), all I know it has the skeleton trigger/hammer and no rail.  I wouldn't sell it for less than that today (AKA I won't sell it lol).  I like my RIA better than my Remington and my Colt 1911.

To me, somewhere around $350.

I have not seen them lower than $325. The sites look better than standard and like it has a grip upgrade. I would figure that gun new would be $475 depending on dealer. I personally would pay $400 but no more depending on condition. Now if it has night sites or something then that  makes the value better of course.
