Confused on this Glock part. Help?

So I was changing out the disconnector and springs on my Glock 17 Gen 4 and when I got done I noticed this piece had fallen out from somewhere. I have no idea where.... Sorry if this is dumb but I'm confused lol. Any help is appreciated.

 I've never been inside a Glock before but my suggestion would be to get on youtube and search "Glock 17 complete assembly" video.

 

 I have no idea what it is but is the "safety blade" in the trigger operating correctly?

New York Trigger .sits inside the triger housing at the rear of the frame. It is under the back part of the trigger bar. I could not find a good pic of it online. I will try and get a pic later if needed. PM me if you need more help.

That is a New York trigger. It just snaps down into the trigger housing. It was designed to increase the trigger pull weight. If you have the standard little trigger spring, just install the standard trigger spring and leave the New York trigger out.

What Eray said - guess you tried a function check and the gun failed?

I was confused as to why I didn't have a trigger spring when I went to replace the springs. The New York trigger makes sense. I left it out and function checked and it worked. Thanks for the help!
