Senator Bowling's Vote

Recommended Posts

In an email reply to my disappointment in her vote to kill Senator Beaver's amendment to the "parking lot" bill she has indicated that I should not be upset because of her pro gun owners vote on two bills to strengthen last year's Safe Commute legislation. She says one gentleman she talked to agreed after her explanation. Before I call her will somebody enlighten me as to why I should applaud her.

By the way, I tried to pose this question to TFA but their website again acts like I am not a member so I guess I won't rejoin again.

Did you register on it? Meaning, it's not automatic or anything when you join TFA.

Anyone who votes against legislature to reduce restriction on owning, using, possessing, carrying, or manufacturing guns is automatically anti-gun in my book. On the glorious 2A, there is no middle ground...

From last year:

HB0118 is the House version of the Safe Commute law. It was presented by Rep. Faison in House Civil Subcommittee on 2/13. It passed out easily on a voice vote and without any debate from any Republican members of the committee – all of whom had been alerted to the omissions and holes in the bill in advance.

What will surprise some people is that the bill does not protect the employee’s job – it only removes some criminal penalties (there may still be possible criminal charges such as criminal trespass).

Essentially, the law is a Georgia style law because the employers will retain the ability to fire any employee with cause (that is, deny you unemployment benefits) if you are found to be or are even suspected to have a firearm in your car.

This has been debated Ad nauseam, but the bill passed last year did not provide protection to a permit holder to not lose their jobs, and the changes this year do not either.  Shell game.
