Supreme Court Justice Scalia just about a week ago said this!!

”In “times of war,” Scalia said, citing a Latin expression attributed to Cicero, “the laws fall silent.”

The United States is currently at war and the Constitution is being violated every moment of each day. He provides a historical reminder that, just because SCOTUS doesn't strike a law (or an executive action) as unconstitutional, doesn't mean it is constitutional.

that's when you know the government has too much power...

That's not a bombshell but it's a bit surprising to hear such a prominent figure discuss it openly

I don't find it all that surprising coming from Justice Scalia since I think he is a Patriot that loves this country. Has the utmost respect for the Constitution and is trying to get the American people to wake up before it is to late and look at just what is going on all around them and even though many see it, they are of the opinion that it can't happen here or would never happen here and far to may people believe it when the Government says the the camps are being built to house what they say are and major influx of Illegal Immigrants. What is an influx since we already have 11 million + here now and none of them are in any of the already existing camps but instead receiving welfare and support from the Government with our taxpayer dollars. Like I said, Scalia is just telling America to wake up and smell the coffee.................jmho

I don’t see the problem here unless you are implying that innocent American s would be locked up. He didn’t say that or even imply it.

So what do we need to “wake up” about?

I'm only willing to "wake up" when I see those words written in all capital letters, followed by no less than three exclamation points.

It is for these reasons that it is so important to have people with strong moral fiber leading our military (active, guard, and reserve) who have a genuine understanding of what the Constitution means and the willingness to support it regardless of what happens. The same applies for our sheriffs. Politicians (and to a lesser extent judges) always seem to become progressively more restrictive to liberty as time goes on. The "problem" is that they rely on the "guys with the guns" to enforce the laws they make.

As long as those "guys with the guns" can seperate legality vs edict, it is the politicans, not the citizens who should be worried. Of course nowadays, unfortunately, that ideal is far from guaranteed, therefore the armed citizenry remains crucial.

This administration has done as much as they can to demoralize our military they can think to do. Between the Litmus tests being given to all of the highest in command in all branches and removing those who refuse to say yes  to the question of "would you order your men under you to fire upon American people on American soil if you were ordered to do so by the Commander-n-chief?" if they said no they are relieved of duty and either given a desk job or a retirement but never again would they be given a command position. That is a really a demoralizing way to treat our great Military Men and Women that have dedicated their lives to God and Country to make sure America is safe. Our Commander-n-Chief has proven time and again he wants followers and not leaders in our military.........................jmho

I don’t believe that. The guy making all the noise about that is a conspiracy nut that has made stupid claims about everything from Lanza’s guns to Canadians ruling the U.S.

I think any Officer in Command may be questioned about what they could or could not do. Could a ballistic submarine Captain launch? Could a fighter pilot take out a commercial aircraft with citizens onboard? (Lt. Heather Penny was given the order to take down fight 93.) But I suspect the crap about asking if they would fire on Americans refusing to turn in guns in simply made up. It would be asking a military Officer if he would commit a crime. Whether he would do it or not he would answer no; he couldn’t answer any other way.

Lt. Penny and Col. Sasseville were flying unarmed f-16’s. They were given the order the take down flight 93. They were going to fly their planes into it. However, some other citizens did the job before they could get there.

Seriously? Did you actually read what he said?

Acknowledging that the infamous Supreme Court-approved internment of Japanese-Americans in wretched camps during World War II was wrong, the conservative-leaning justice followed up by adding that “you are kidding yourself if you think the same thing will not happen again.”

The Japanese-Americans he speaks of were innocent American citizens. They had committed no crime but were rounded up and put in internment camps only because they had Japanese heritage. Some of them were serving in the military at the time. This would be no different than rounding up and incarcerating American members of the NRA (or the Sons of the Confederacy or Catholics or farmers or fill-in-the-blank here) because they perceive that group as a potential threat.

His speech in a nutshell was that, in the not too distant past, the U.S. has locked up a large group of innocent American citizens in violation of the Constitution but with the blessing of SCOTUS. If people are foolish enough to think it can't happen again, they're deluded.

It actually did happen in New Orleans after Katrina when the National Guard was ordered to go in and disarm everyone and move them to the old  dome and they were forced to remain there even though many wanted to leave and had a safe place to go but were not able to leave because the National Guard was ordered to  contain them there. What right did the national Guard have to disarm people in their homes that were protecting their homes and property from looters? That was against the Constitutional 2nd Amendment rights of the people of New Orleans to disarm them. So don't say it can't or won't happen. It was never made big news because they did not want to draw attention to the fact it happened but do a little homework and you will find its true.
