Michael Moore Explains Columbine

Recommended Posts

What a concept, Michael Moore is blaming something other than guns for Columbine etc.

http://www.drugawareness.org/Images/Moore/moore1.swf

Says that basically all of the reasons they listed in Bowling were BS and that it happened for "no other reason" than prescribed pharmaceuticals.

Granted, he doesn't say that these kids (and Mr. Cho for that matter) might possibly, just Possibly, been "evil."

Anyway, enjoy the video

heh..what a load of crap. I trust THIS fat man about as far as I can throw him. I also see alot of flaws in his logic.

when someone proves that their logic chain is flawed because of bias, then there's not a lot more you can do except refute their drivel with the proper logic, then ignore them.

That could be a couple thousand feet, though, if you do it from atop one of your towers.

IT's the music! No, wait, it's the PARENTS! No, that's no it, It's the SCHOOLS!

No, not the schools, It MUST be the Rx drugs then!!!

The little ****s were evil sadists and I hope they are getting the appropriate eternal punishment at this second. I just wish I could have had two weeks with them to usher them to that eternal punishment....

What a fat piece of useless crap!

Yeah, bit what MADE them sadists? Were they BORN that way? (I doubt it.) Was it the schools/music/parents/drugs/microwaves/evil aliens? (Maybe.) At least here we have someone saying "hey, guns are not the problem here. Columbine didn't happen because of guns." Is this not a good thing?

While Moore's explanation is probably over simplistic and not really proven by any evidence presented in the video, its nice to see people looking at the underlying causes of social problems. You can ban all the guns you want, but that aint gonna solve what's wrong with these kids. That's an important step for society to take and a valuable ally in our cause.

Look at the fundamental shift here people:

Old way: People are broken, so we better take their guns away or they will kill us.

New Way: People are broken, lets figure out why and fix them.

I'd much rather have a debate about gun issues based on the new way, because guns didn't break people.

One last thought: Bowling for Columbine was a powerful film, but I don't think that necessarily makes the director of said film a well-credentialed social critic. I never understood the media's fascination with Moore except in the sense that the media is fascinated with, well, the media.

Len,

Mr Moore is worse, in his way, than those murdering bastages at colombine, VT, and all those other places. Do not take anything he says (I don't think you are) without checking for the knife in your back.

What makes kids that way? I don't know. But I know I had it worse than 99% of the brats that do this kind of crap today and I managed to make something from nothing. They are taking all the opportunity in the world and making less than nothing from it.

I don't think our society has the moral courage to "fix" these kids, nor any others.

High on my list of reasons the entire society needs "fixed".

Methinks that it was the act of fixing, in the case of the most recent generation, which caused many of these behavioral problems...

Nowadays there's a new 'psychosis' or 'disorder' to label bad behavior with, for which there is a perscription of powerful drugs.

I see a connection!

Kids are brought up under the assumption that they are not responsible for their behavior... In fact, many times the worst of these are actually PITIED for the 'obvious' psychological stresses which cause them to act badly...

it's senseless! This kind of pandering only serves to minimize the needs of children with REAL special-needs.
