The February IDPA match at Gallatin Gun will be 4 stages. About 75 rounds should do it. Stage 1 is barrel city, stage 2 is watch your back!, The newly burned stage 3 is the usually standards drill, loosen up that weak hand, and the always fun and muddy stage 4 shoot house.  :woohoo:

Gallatin Gun club is very welcomed to new shooters.  There will be a shooter's meeting for new people to the range to make them at ease and comfortable in a safe oriented mind set.

Shooters meeting is around 8:45 and rounds down range approx. 9AM.

Somebody brought a "guest" to the range and that "guest" was shooting the steel plates with green-tip 5.56.

My vote is to expel that member for a year for not reading the rules and allowing their "guest" to burn down bay 3!

I was out there today, the newly burned berm is beautiful! They need to burn the rest of them! Then we wouldn't have to worry about wildlife laying up in the weeds and maybe even discourage those pesky deer from coming out and grazing during the middle of live fire. :pleased:

$10 for ggc members and $15 for non members. typically the only thing that will cause a match to be put on hold is lightening. come on out and join us

I am interested in possibly joining the IDPA and begin shooting in these events. Are spectators welcome to these events?

Yup!

And as a note to everyone, TVA posted a sign as you come near the entrance of the steam plant that states "No Public Access" which DOES NOT apply to those taking part in a match at the GGC range.

Great. Thanks for the reply.

Any thoughts on what time a spectator might should get there?

First shots around 9am so any time. But let me tell you it's more fun too shoot it than watch it, so bring your gun and 3 mags and holsters for both.

Someone will check the gate around 9:00. After that you are stuck unless another member comes along. As Justin said, bring your gun and ammo. It's no fun watching.

Membership is still closed.

I will pass that along to the outstanding young fellows that did it!

No, I mean with Beretta moving in there they have an opportunity to expand if they move on it before someone else does. But maybe they are as big as they want to be; I was just making an observation based on the news, I have never been to the range.

Good morning Dave. The biggest problem we have at Gallatin is the curent range. We are stuck in a small patch of land, isolated within the TVA compound. Our current membership is at 1000 members with 200 on the wait list. If TVA expands their operation, the range is in danger of being closed for TVA needs. Currently we must drive through the construction area/parking/ construction equipement to access the range. We are looking at possible locations for a new range, off TVA land, nothing in stone yet. I feel if we move, the club dues would have to double to cover cost, that would cause some to drop the membership and other the chance to get in. It would also allow us to design a range that would better handle the different shooting types within the club.(we need a seperate pistol area). We could get bigger and better, it would require a move. I would love to do a regional IDPA match, getting 100 non-members by the TVA gate would be a problem. Alot of possibilites, we will most likely stay where we are as long as TVA will work with us.
