Dealer Question

I am farting around with the idea of taking my G17 2nd gen in to trade hopefully outright for a PT145 or PT745 the value of these guns are about dead equal.

If I were to do a even exchange of guns where no money changes hands do I still have to pay the BS 9.5% sales tax down here?? I Know I will have to pay at least 10 tics. unless he has already included that in the price of the gun.

I don't think you'll have to pay taxes, but remember, even though the guns are equal in value (assuming you're correct about that), the dealer is looking to make a profit.

If there is no money to be made by the dealer, he's not likely going to do the even trade. If you're gun was worth a bit more than his gun, your chances would be quite a bit better.

I assume the dealer will figure the taxes into the trade. I'm pretty sure the dealer still has to pay his taxes on the gun you'd be getting from him.

hi,

when trading, state sales tax would only be due on the cash difference between the items traded or exchanged. same as with a car or truck trade.

hope you get a good deal,

The going rate for the PT 145/745 is avg 340+/- the Glock 17 is roughly the same on all the auction sites. I am throwing in 2 extra 17rd mags so 4 17rd mags to sweeten the deal.

I would keep the Glock if it were me.

Hero-Gear is a great place to trade with however

I very rarely shoot the glock, most of the time when I go to the range I shoot my carry gun(s) the glock is just too big for me to carry comfortably. My S&W 4516 is carry able but heavy. It has been sitting in my safe lonely unfired for about 3 yrs now. So I was going to trade for a good carry gun that will be shot regularly.

In that case I would trade for the smallest and lightest gun you could find.
