Ruger convertible black hawk 357mag/9mm

Does anyone have one of these?

I saw the 45 convertible one today which looked very interesting, but I am wanting the 9mm option.

I don't have any wheel guns at the moment and
I am thinking about buying the Ruger convertible black hawk.

Any feedback both positive or negative on the 357/9mm would help me decide weather to get one or just get a 357.

Got one and its a definite keeper for sure. Accuracy is best when using .357 generally, but with .38s and 9mm it isn't bad at all. I'd highly recommend one, especially if your wanting a single action but want some modern improvements like a coil hammer spring instead of a leaf, adjustable sights and the transfer safety bar.

Their easy to work on too if you like to take things apart and tinker with them. They come pretty good from the factory but can clean up even better with some polishing or some use. I just worked the action in my free time for a week or so while watching TV or whatever, feels pretty good. Not as nice as one of my buddies who has the same gun and hand polished the internals, but pretty good. Incidently he had his 9mm cylinder bored out for the .44/.357 or .357 Bain Davis. Pretty neat round. I'd rather have the 9mm though.

I have one and love it!  Quite accurate with .38s and 9mm, but it really shines with .357s!  .38 and 9mm are like shooting a .22.  I think this is one of those revolvers everyone should have in their collection!

A few other things to point out. The Blackhawk is built right and will out last even the youngest of new buyers with even minor care. Ruger tends to stand by their products so if you were able to wear out anything they will most likely replace it. It's robust enough that I'd be comfortable just having some replacement springs around, maybe a few extra parts and be set for life with it.

Hogue makes a really nice grip that gives you more to hold onto, as do a few other after market makers. Worth checking out if you don't like the stock grip.


Now having discussed the good points, if its going to be your first revolver you might want a good SA/DA instead. They're a bit more useful in that they make a more practice for carrying and home defence and the like and almost as much fun.

I like semi autos, they're alot of fun, but wheel guns in general are more interesting IMO.

I have one, it's all aces. And yep, 9mm feels about like .22mag through it. :)

thanks all for the replies. Will definitely be getting one.
Back in the early 80's and 90's that is all I owned (revolvers, both double, single and combo actions), so I am not new to wheel guns. I just wanted to hear about this particular type. ;)

New Ruger Blackhawk 357 - 9mm convertible with a 6 1/2" barrel has been odered today. I should have it next week sometime. 

can't wait to put some rounds through it  :)

Got the gun today and shot six 9mm's through it. All I can say is WOW, this gun is fun to shoot. It does shoot like a 22 and I shot 2 holes at 10 yards. The trigger out of the box is IMO excellent. Now, I ordered a Rossi 357 20" rifle to go with it. ;)
