Your workbench??

Since I had to leave my workbench (built into garage) when we moved last year, I am curious as to what people have.  We are renting at the moment and I would like to either custom build something portable (for when we purchase a home) or even purchase something if it fits my needs.  Anybody care to share a picture of your bench?

This photo was taken right after I brought this which accounts for the fact that it is uncluttered.  This table was originally owned by a cabinet maker who built it himself.  He fixed a metal placard just below the tabletop which is engraved:  A. E. Hanson - 1959.  I use the table primarily to clean guns on.

I used the stock white counter top and under counter drawer sets for my work bench. I built some custom shelves above it and hung a fluorescent light under the shelves. I mounted a power strip under the counter top and bolted my vice to it. My compressor isn't far away, but think about having easy access to air.

First, a picture of what it usually looks like. Proof that i use it! This is what it looked like when i went down to take the pic. The next pic is after I cleaned it up a bit so you can actually see it.

Took an old rusty craftsman cabinet. Cleaned, brushed, and repainted. Then took the fiberboard top off and put half a sheet of birch plywood and legs to support the long end. Works nicely 132C71E8-BAF9-4F37-A3E3-7C32B543DCCF_zps Sent from my iPad using Voodoo magic

I'm almost embarrassed to post pics of my garage in this shape, but deer hunters will understand..where's my <insert item>? Anything in the way gets thrown cause I'm on the way to the woods NOW LMAO! Anyway, I picked up a section of damaged racking from my work and bought some cross beams as well. I cut 2x4's to drop in the recess inside each beam as support for the plywood. I have beams on the bottom and was going to put plywood on it as well but decided the bottom beam would keep things with wheels from rolling out from under the bench and that with a shelf that low, undoubtedly there would be things rolling up underneath it that I wouldn't be able to reach.

Oh man I love work benches. Mine are both built to the wall. One was my grandfathers I just repainted. All those look great guys except 2.ooohhhh don't tease with the awesome snap on box and rugerla1 well we may need to talk about some organization issues or hoarding. Lol :)

:) I do hoard tools and I am fixin to be organizing like a madman because its driving me crazy! The Mrs didn't help any when she started her search for Christmas stuff! But, I still get to clean up the mess...I still love her though.

Mine isn't pretty, but you can set a car engine on it if you want. I just went and got a load of 2x# lumber and a box of nails.

I have Stanley plans for a heavy duty workbench - 4x4 legs, 1-1/2 inch thick top.  Assembles with carriage bolts and can be disassembled for transport.  I've built 3 and I brought one with me when I moved.  Let me know if you want the plans.

If you want to be able to disassemble the bench, don't use glue in the leg/stretcher joints.  Anything you glue together ain't coming apart later.

Would love to get a copy of the plans.  I sent you a PM.

Thanks to everybody who has responded.  It is great seeing what everybody has built and/or recycled.  Great stuff.

Kinda like this? The bench on the right, by the window, i use to work on guns. The small bench beside it I use for .45-50 reloading. I keep an old separate Lee single stage

press for bullet pulling and recapping. I have 7 removable heads with dies mounted for most of my reloading chores. 9mm, .45acp, .45 scholfield, .45LC, .308, .30-06, and 6.5-06. If you look at that old desk, it's made of laminated MDF, built 20 years ago and weighs 150 lbs. I have it one wheels. In fact, everything I have expect the .45-70 table is

one wheels. I will be putting that on wheels, also.

I have a couple of long workbenches, one steel, one wood, in the garage along with a couple of wheel mounted tool boxes, one for a milling machine. The second for a drill press. I also have an electric powered hack saw on wheels. I cal roll all of my shop equipment out to use and back to store. My 6" Atlas metal lathe is fixed to a 3rd bench.
